This site compares what it would cost to buy all VC games compared to going out and buying all the original cartridges (used). http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/416
Final tally is: System : Used Price : VC Price NES : $273.53 : $288.00 SNES : $354.38 : $216.00 N64 : $169.42 : $102.00 Genesis : $406.59 : $353.00 NeoGeo : $135.00 : $72.00 TG16 : $1,177.67 : $294.00
Totals: Used originals: $2516.59 VC games : $1325.00
So, of course it is cheaper to buy the VC games than buying the oldcartridges. But, thats not taking into account these points:- You can resell the original games, and they may increase in value.
- Original games take up lots of real-space.
- VC is easier and cheaper to actually obtain the game.
- VC looks better on HD televisions.
- Original games require you to own and hook up a other consoles and accessories.

Still doesn't beat playing with a real classic controller. |

So, it looks like VC is a very good thing! Except for the fact that my Wii doesn't have Internet. |
