I was just thinking... If I ever had kids, and I plan not to, what would be names based on game characters that aren't too weird...
Like, not normal names, but not ones that would be easily distinguished?
I don't plan on having kids/naming after game characters, but I think it's an interesting concept to discuss. |

Mario, Link, Yoshi, Pit, Kirby, Meta Knight, Red, Geno, Bowser, and Donkey Kong are not bad names... Samus sounds pretty cool |

Mario's already a name, so it's not really recognizable. And since my last name is Italian, it would fit almost too well. |

I actualy Talked about Naming My son Godot (PW3 FTW) with my Girlfriend (we plan to have children if we get married) But I would Name My First Born Son something different.
If we have a daughter I would want to name her Charlotte, after the Samurai Showdown Character... mainly. |

I would name mine after one of the Koopalings if it were male (Lemmy, Iggy, Morton, or Roy...Ludwig's wierd and Larry's too average). If it were female...er...I got nothing. |

If I had a son - ANDREW RYAN. I'd make him grow a thin mustache, and when he's little help him build Legos into a Mini-Rapture.
If I had a daughter - Meryl (MGS, not the POEKAYMANZ). ... Yeah, that's about it. Hell, my name's Marshall. I would want my daughter to suffer under the same "HOW DOES YEW SPELL DAT!?!" questions that I have to deal with. -__-;; |

I know a guy named Geno who was named Geno before SMRPG came out. o___O;
I think naming your kids after game characters that aren't otherwise regular names is stupid.
Like, Mario, okay. Vivian, okay. Meryl, okay. Geno, I guess is okay, because it's supposedly an Italian name.
Then, like... Zelda, for instance... is a real name, but you still wouldn't use it because it hasn't been used for a real person for years and the game is really the only place it's used. It'd be too obvious that you intentionally named your kid after a game character and it sounds really dated on a kid. Same thing for like, Kirby.
Then, naming your kid Princess Peach/Donkey Kong/Ganondorf etc. is just stupid beyond all reprieve. www.bigbadbabynames.com Someone apparently DID name their kid Princess Peach... Princess as a first name, Peach as a middle... and it's horrible... x_x; |

If I named a child Conan than my family would never forgive me
(They all know I'm insanely into Case Closed)
so I'll resist temptation and name him/her after one of my cousins |

I could name my child Jade... although that's more of a girl's name, and the character I'm thinking of is male. D8 |

Flavio sees nothing wrong with it, as long as you don't name them something stupid like DevilDoom, or Exdeath. |

There's a couple food-places named "Geno's" in my city, so Geno isn't that rare of a name.
I might name my son Errol (Error from LoZ2, but altered slightly to be a real name) or Mido (LoZ2 town / LoZ:OoT character). My daughter might be Selan (Lufia 2) or maybe Schala (Chrono Trigger/Cross).
And then there's an indirect route:
Example: Link is a connection. Levi means chains. Link = Levi. Thus, one could name their son as Levi and no one would be the wiser. |
