There is a story, many have told about FUNimation, and their recent capture of One Piece from 4Kids Entertainment. The voices are amazingly better, eleventy-billionfold better, and the edits are lighter. People may actually LOVE One Piece more than Naruto, if this keeps up!
ONWARD TO THE REVIEW!!
One Piece: Unlimited Adventure is an Adventure game that takes place in the majestically beautiful world of One Piece! It starts WAY into the story, past where we are now, and we are introduced to the Thousand Sunny, the eventual successor to the Going Merry, and Franky, the Shipwright who is really SUPER! Well, The Straw Hats get new clothes, and new debts to pay Nami, and Luffy finds a mysterious orb, which lands our intrepid pirate crew on an uncharted island, where the adventure takes place!
Controls: 9/10. -- With no Pointer support, the game is pretty simple, as it plays similar to The Legend of Zelda Series, but with the B Button using Jump, A for attack, Z for Lock-on/Move Camera, C for Dashing and other attacks, and 1 for Shoulder-point view.
Gameplay: 7/10 -- You explore the island from the Plains of Adventure, your Central Hub for the Adventure, where the Straw Hats set up camp, that can be improved as you progress through the Island, and along your way, you can use a Pickaxe, Butterfly net, and Fishing rod to capture small creatures, fish, and other things. Along the way, you'll find different Monuments that are activated with the Orb, and you'll end up fighting villains of One Piece's Past, like Smoker (That's right, It ain't Chaser!), Krieg, Eneru, Crocodile and others (brought alive by the Orb's ability to access Past Visions of Luffy's Adventures)!
Voice Acting: Perfect 10, baby! -- Seeing as it's done by the FUNimation crew, you can't pretty much complain, unless you actually grew up with 4Kids Voice actors Bella Hudson and Jason Griffith, but I like the FUNimation voices better!
Music: 9/10 -- While not really orchestrated, it still manages to sound beautiful! The most adventurous is the Fossil Beach BGM. It's bright, it's full of adventurous spirit, and it's amazing, too!
Additional stuff: 6/10 -- Basically, this game comes with a 2P Battle Mode, with Team and Survival Modes! As you fight many enemies in the Adventure Mode, you can unlock additional characters for use in the Vs. Mode. And Team Battle is a pain, because you gotta use a limited amount of slots in the selection before you can pass. Other than that, once you get enough experience fighting in the Adventure Mode, you'll get a feel for the Vs. Mode.
The Overall Verdict: 9/10 -- I say go out to your local Game retailer stores, and pick up the game. It might as well be worth the $40, seeing as it's got FUNimation Voices, and fresh music. Plus, Zolo isn't called "Zolo" in the game! He's called "Zoro," as he should!
Also, be sure to pick up "One Piece - Movie 8: Episode of Alabasta: The Desert Princess and the Pirates" on DVD, February 19th! And don't miss all new episodes of One Piece, dubbed by FUNimation, Saturdays at 10:00 PM. It's the Skypiea Arc, only Toonami, on Cartoon Network!
