I'm freaking sick and tired of working for half an hour on a nice post, and-
HEY! WHY IS THAT MEASLEY POST GETTING 57 PAGES OF REPLIES?!
Because digibutter has a popularity scale. A VERY bad popularity scale. People on the top can post shit, and get cookies for it. People who spend five hours on something, but are low on the scale... either they're completely ignored, or they have no views on the topic anyway because people expect it to be bad. You may think 'Well, people like ludwig can post junk- Hey, what's that? Two pages. Good enough. I mean COMPLETELY ignored people. The people whom would NEVER even be in contact with a popular, without joining a popular's board.
If there's a board where say.... people with few cookies could only go, or maybe something on how many replies have been made in their topics they've made.
Now, I can CLEARLY see some people coming in saying hell no.
I will completely ignore posts from 'populars' in this topic, because ya know what? It doesn't concern you. |

I have 3 cookies and I'm not one of the "Epics," but I'm pretty popular and kinda respected-ish, I guess.

four for this yoshi.
But two of mine were 'guess the parody, and get a cookie' so technically two, AND I physically TRY to get cookies whenever I'm not in rpot, like my other two, so REALLY, I'd have no cookies. |

I haven't got any cookies and I'm mostly ignored, but you don't hear me complaining. I don't really see the point in the board is all... |

I don't really see the point. The only people that would go would be you (to complain) and us (to laugh). |

No. This idea is fail.
I don't have a lot of cookies, but I'm not getting jealous over anyone. Cookies don't even really mean anything.
For some reason, you're starting to remind me of Koopler.. |

You know, part of the problem is that you are still really new. I mean a lot of the "Populars" have been here for, well more than half a year. I've for one have almost been here for a full year. |

I agree with what Popple said.
Most of the 'popular' people on digibutter have been here for a while, and we know them well. You, on the other hand, have only been here for 2 or 3 months, so we barely know you. Stop whining to get attention please.

0 and I believe it will stay there but I don't care about cookies that much.
Besides at some period in time something epic will happen and I will be one of the ones who caused it. |

Hmm, I could use some more posts around here that are worthy of notifying.
Well, I do have to note that though popple said that, NOT true. Look at four month people like twytch. AMAZINGLY popular.
Anyway, funny how there's so few 'notable' posts here. |

OK, if you want opinion from somebody unpopular, here goes mine, since I'm the least popular active person in this side of the pie.
Quit having so much concern about the popularity scale.
In first place, cookies are NOT a popularity meter. They are, also, a recent addition, so it's equilibrated much. Heck, even I have a single cookie, so it's far from a popularity meter.
If you want a cookie so badly, just keep on making good posts, and eventually you can get awarded. That's how I got mine without even trying. Als, popularity is not something you get from the morning to the night, unless you turn the board upside-down with something nobody know or thought about before. That case is rare, though, so the only way to become more popular is sticikng around some more.
Additionally, that would end up like The Underwhere. A board for unpopular people. Cool. And? What do you talk about there? It goes the same way for the Underwhere, because it's a board for the dead, but nothing to talk about. And this means it'd be deadie as hell.
And you can't ignore this post, my friend, because I'm so unpopular you are more popular than I am, yet I'm not whining around and complaining. Because I don't give a *crag*. |

*sigh*
Glitz, I dunno where I fall anymore. I suppose the content of my posts predicates my popularity. So, I'll try to be notable. If you choose not to listen, that's okay. But, if you do choose to, then thank you.
The popularity scale of digibutter is predicated on three factors: longetivity, originality, and fads. Popple explained the first, and the others are quick to follow. You see, fads are basically digibutter's heart and soul. We take them, we party, we laugh, we cry, we scream at our computers in frustration, and we have a good ol' time. Such is how the site was formed, and such is how it shall continue until Francis changes that aspect. So, indulge in the fads. There is a 99% chance that a fan fiction that is extremely detailed and wonderful won't be noticed over a plethora of masterpieces or gifs, or a Fire Emblem roleplay will be ignored in favor of a topic by Princess Kraehe. Just go with the flow...and your popularity shall increase. Just don't try to go completely off-topic with your posts, like an abrupt introduction to a role-play.
However, you can't survive on just fads (unless your FW or live in OT). You must add your own dynamic flair to your posts. Lord Bowser's always in character, MALAK's the genius he really is, and I go on and on (though not so much as Mona, whose rants are much better) about insignificant details and my opinions and...hey, here I go now! Conformity is a posion that I ditest drinking from, though a little sip won't hurt now and then.
What I'm trying to say is...join the party! Go to the popular people and play WITH them. Wait until the opprotune moment...and take it! Enjoy everything this site has to offer. And you will be accepted, you will be replied to, you will be...popular.
This advice goes for all members and was brought to you today by the Letter N. |
