In some interview, Sakurai said there would be forty characters. NOt the case? I believe SOMEONE is wrong.
Character log: 36.
Zelda uses Down B, and becomes shiek. 37.
Samus uses her final smash, and sheds armor to be ZSS. 38.
Pokemon trainer sends out squirtle, and uses down B twice. 40.
Just pointing that out for n00bs who don't know. |

ZSS makes 36.
Sheik isn't a complete character, but whatever. 37.
You can only count two of PT's Pokemon, so that makes 39.
Last time I checked, 39 =/= 40. |

Now something to clarify about all the FS being suggested here (Of course not directed at who was kidding):
No. Zero Suit Samus is an individual character for being avaliable at the selection screen (The same way Sheik is, which some people do know). And most of the ones suggested here were either only the character how he/she/it was but with a little dump, or the character using a move. |
