They still live in some of the newcomers, for example.
Ike is sorta like Roy, even though they have diffrent fighting styles there attack damage are just about the same.(If Ike isn't more powerful)
Lucario pretty much is a clone of Mewtwo but with some changes.
And Toon Link is like a better version of Young Link.
I'm not sure about Dr.Mario though since all he was was a direct clone of Mario.
Oh and Pichu is pretty much Pikachu if you beileve Pichu invovled into a Pikachu after Melee.

Don't forget Pichu. At least the cut characters from Melee are kinda represented in Brawl, except for Roy.
Pichu and Mewtwo are trophys, Dr. Mario's song is back, Young Link is Toon Link IMO, with different names and better look |

Well I like Dr. Mario better. Instead of curing people he sends them to hospital like he tries to get more customers by beating the shit out of them. He only forgot the black mask. |
