The young woman opened her eyes, slowly. Her vision began to gradually adjust within the darkness as she sat herself up, propped on both hands.
"Ah!"
The exclamation of pain escaped her as her head jarred against a glass surface above her. Confused, she instinctively reached out, feeling with her hands - she was trapped. She kicked out her legs, finding nothing but a solid metal base, one end to the glass capsule that was her engimatic prison.
"What is this? What's going on?!"
Sarah let the words tumble confusedly from her lips as she continued to struggle uselessly in her panic, kicking outwards and banging upon the surrounding glass with the flat of her hand. Surely the glass must break... it was glass, wasn't it?
Sarah's wildly moving hand flew upward to shield her eyes as light flooded quite suddenly into the room.
No... Not here...
This was her nightmare... and there was no waking up, save for the one way out. Death would be welcome, most welcome, for all around her the faces of her tormentors leered at her, laughing, their collective visage distorted and terrifying as the flames sprang into life within the capsule, consuming Sarah's body, whitehot and intense, charring her skin black and melting away her heart...
It was over, soon. The nightmare hadn't lasted long, but it was strong enough to engulf her completely. And that was the end of her life.
