My goal to get every charecter without Beating SSE/Abusing Special Brawl/Suicide Method. Is complete might have took longer than most of you but I did it =D
I unlocked a majority of my fighters by condition.( like Collecting 450 trophy's for Rob) and about 4 from Vs. Matches. (Falco-by accident. Wolf Jiggilypuff and Toon Link- Because they were not available until after SSE). My reasoning to reiterate. I like the Showdown matches, And I beat SSE with a friend on his copy before mine even came in. ( which I believe I've stated 5 or more times) I'm in no rush to beat it again.
I highly recommend my method for people who want to make the game last a little longer, I can recall unlocking rob is partiularly Time consuming due to the need to collect trophy's. Its Casual And Vigorous ( provided you spend your matches challenging yourself.) I was able to simultaneously Take care of most of the event wall. and get every stage.
So onto the meat of the topic, How did you unlock everyone? why did you choose that method? and last but not least, Would you recommend your method? |

i chose SSE to unlock everyone so far. I need wolf, jiggly, toon link, and sonic. I chose that way cuz i thaught it would be more fun to unlock everyone in a story mode rather than the other way. |

I used alot of dirty tricks when it came to unlocking people/stages, I used the suicide method on DK to unlock 75m, Most of the people I unlocked in the subspace emissary and for the rest of the stage I had 1 stock matches with 300% on the cpu. I only recommend those methods for people who want to hurry up and unlock everything. I probably wouldn't of used those methods if I didn't speed through every game I play. X_X |

Subspace emissary. I couldn't wait for it. I just had to start it. Making the game last longer? It's called a second playthrough. |

Luigi's existence in itself is an accident. |

games tend to loose replay value once you have unlocked something, Its not like I can re-lock Wolf... I mean yes I can play through classic, all star, boss, and SSE until my eyes bleed. but its still not the same the first time you unlock something, I guess I'm just Savering my rewards.
also once you beat a game, a lot of times you have the luxury of skipping over "Levels you hate" Saving frustration yes, but removing that First time experience.
Alas this is all semantics though |

I unlocked a couple people through battles, but most of them were through SSE. |

I don't have it yet, but I'm sure as hell going to do everything I can the "hard" way, meaning not on SSE. Because I am a challenge whore. I want to do it the hard way. No SSE, no cheats, no cheap tactics. Only challenge, and never killing the fun. That's how I made Melee last until the first time I played Brawl, over my friends -- sadly, I can't 100% it now, because after playing Brawl, it's impossible to play Melee again.
My friend only didn't unlock a very few characters. And all he played until I came there was SSE. If I look at it, kind of, it's pretty sad. You can unlock nearly all the characters in 3 days, 2, 1, heck, even half an hour. It's the very definition of killing the fun. For me, it's like eating ice cream: Sure, you can eat fast if you are in a hurry, but it's much better and to go bit by bit, to enjoy every little taste...
I would actually do SSE as regularly as the other stuff, if it wasn't such a fun killer to unlock everyone that easily. |
