I beat tabuu on intense after MANY tries. Unfortunately, I have no friggin' tape recordings of it, so I just have to blab on endlessly.
First off, the wing ownage attack NEVER killed me. Not ONCE. It seems physically impossible, but I'd like to thank whoever it was that mentioned shield+Down. (Though it must be done three times, It's not hard unless you're in the air, and can't get on the ground.)
Combo attacks were physically impossible to not use, and end up winning. Here are afew things I recommend:
Bring yoshi, with LOTS of Leg stickers. Use his mid air down A, to do some massive damage. That's exactly how you beat about any hard boss on intense.
Bring pikachu with LOTS of electric attack stickers. His thunder won't do much, but nothing really does much on him anyway. But some electrical combo attacks in mid air can be very good.
Bring fox with, you guessed it: LOTS of leg stickers. Near all of his mid-air attacks are done with his legs. Plus, his Up B keeps him in air long enough to dodge attacks like the shoop, and the double buzz saw.
Bring mario with lots of arm stickers. Wait, MARIO? Yes. His up b scores combos, as we know, and it's done with his ARM. Use that to land some good damage. Trust me, it works.
Now, I also used capt. Falcon, because I gave him some Arm/leg stickers, and his quick attacks were good.
I also brought toon link, just because.
Now, technically, I can be considered beating it with five characters, as Capt. Falcon kind of got owned by the grappler the moment he got on.
Anyway, his attacks, and a way to dodge them are as follows:
Grappler: He launches a thing that seems to be a long grappling hook at you, one of the most deadly. It'll kill at 0 damage, and about 65 and higher damage, but I think if you have fifty, you can get back on. (Low damage, it launches you far horizontally, but not vertically at all, so you can't get back on. Beware if someone just got on with 0 damage. If it's higher, you'll go vertically, and horizontally, enough to land, but around 65, and you'll just fly off.) It looks like you have to run away from him, but once it missed me when I was right next to him, so let's call that the safe spot.
Swoop dagger: Tabuu swoops down at you with a sword of some sort across the screen. It's hard to predict but it's only a jump to dodge. Just be ready to jump if he's on one side of the screen.
Buzzsaw boomerang: He throws some sort of buzzsaw at you, it works EXACTLY like the swoop dagger, but more predictable, but it comes back.
Wing pwnage: We know this one. The three massive shockwaves that destroy about anything in their path. Kills at 0 damage, goes through shield, and cannot be dodged. Use your shield, and when a red wave is about to hit you, shield, and down. It's your only hope to live, as he uses it about two to three times in the intense battle. Beware if you just brought a guy into battle, he'll use it any time he wants.
Gold bars of death: The hardest one of all to dodge. The wing pwnage is nothing on this one, as the wing pwnage atleast gives you time to PREPARE to dodge. This one works like the swoop dodge, but is not predictable AT ALL. He shows very few signs that he's about to do it, and by the time he shows the first sign, it's nearly too late to dodge. Maybe shielding works, however. Kills at 0 hp.
The shoop da whoop: VERY easy to dodge. Taboo looks like he's embracing passion for the air, and then a black raven thing shows up. Just jump, and try to stay in the air, untill the lazer beam is gone.
Blue bird thingy: Sometimes easy to dodge, sometimes hard. Just depends. If it's high up, you can be safe on the ground. If it's low, you can just jump. It it's middle, you can barely dodge on the ground, and barely dodge over it, but it makes you want to jump over it anyway, being so close to the ground.
Exploding teleport: Ever noticed his teleporting? It's annoying. When he's leaving explosions behind his teleportations, don't follow him. He's not even going to give you time to hit him after doing this one anyway. Not a one hit KO, but try to keep away if he's asplodin', but if he's not, then he'll leave you a BIG chance to attack when he stops.
Big lazers: Just stay in the air. They come from his giant face, and I've never completely dodged, but if you're right next to his ugly face, then you can probably dodge the upcoming laser, but I recommend trying to jump it, though it never works, unless your kirby, or meta knight or something. Does 35 damage, and does not KO. Not necesarily a big worry, damage in this battle is nothing anyway, seeing all his attacks KO at zero except for afew of them.
Temper tantrum: Ooooh, I like this one. Tabuu slashes everywhere around himself. Why is this good? Becuase if you're not caught in it, you can hit him with projectiles, such as fox's blaster, kirby's thunder/thundershock, (depending on if he's beside you or over you.) Really a small threat if you can dodge. If you don't dodge, don't fret. It's a good attack, but it only does damage, and launches you at the ground. It can BARELY kill.
Double team: He stole a pokemanz move! How dare he.... He launches fake tabuus at you, but he stays in the same place. They shoot off in any direction, but if you keep your distance, you can projectile his health away. Known to kill at high damage.
Needle throw, and fire ball:
Tabuu combo attacks you with needles, and BAM. Finishes you with a fire ball. you can get out of the combo, and if you're pikachu, thunder him to death. Just remember to dodge the upcoming fire ball.
He has afew other attacks, but god if you can't dodge them, you're not too smart. If I can, I'll try to take a screenshot of my rank on great maze with a big hulking 'intense' next to it.
But for now, if you don't believe me, ya don't believe me, but it did happen. |

You know that would be very impressive if Intense was half as difficult as most people think it is.
Congratulations for being the first to brag about it on digibutt though |

Sort of yes, sort of no. It probably took about ten tries, but after you learn the strategies of his moves, it's all luck from there, wether he grapple hooks you randomly, or spams gold bars, you never know. After getting the wing pwnage down, you just have to keep trying.
Remember kids, never forget your stickers.
@O' chunks: Have you tried intense? The bosses are very difficult, and nearly anything does atleast 30 damage to you, AND, 45% Of tabuu's attacks are fatal at 0 damage on intense. On easy, the only one hit ko I can remember is the wing pwn, and comparing difficulty from very hard to intense, it get MUCH harder than it does with easy to normal, and such.
OH, and by the way everyone, I have great news! Though I beat him on intense, I never found a trophy stand when his health was low! Wait, that's bad. Heheh....
Oh well. |

Intense is easier than Melee's Very hard. =/ and yes when I do play SSE ( which is rarely) I play only on Intense. note I haven't really had the strive to beat it again since I already beat it on hard with a friend (on his copy) Its really not all that tough, you need to evade more thats about it. |

So, for example, if you had [Leg] Attack +4 and [Leg] Attack +6 stickers on the same trophy base, the added [Leg] Attack bonus wouldn’t be +10—it’d simply be treated as if you’d only put down the +6 sticker. |
