I used to do this with Melee. In fact, I attempted to make a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style gameplay, a little like the Subspace Emissary.
Basically, you take characters, items, and a stage and select them accordingly to a little plot you came up with.
Example:
Tiresome Turtles
Characters: Mario. Luigi, Peach, and Bowser.
Free for All or Team Battle? Team Battle
Teams: Mario and Luigi. Peach and Bowser.
Rules: Any
Items: Fire Flower, Koopa Shell, Banana Peel, Bomb-omb, Starman, Metal Box, Hammer, Star Rod, Soccer Ball, Super Mushroom, Poison Mushroom, Lightening, Freezie
Stage: Mushroomy Kingdom
Plot: Bowser abducted Peach again, but this time he did something new. He hypnotized her to join his side! Mario and Luigi, its up to you to save her, but please... don't hurt her if you can help it...
Alternate Plot: Ah, so I see you have finally got her to join you, my King. That is a very fine hypnosis spell you casted on the Princess. I must warn you, however, that the scouts have informed me that Mario and that green guy are on their way. I wonder how they will react when their beloved princess fights them...
In this, you can be anyone or have up to four players involved. Hell, you could have an all NPC battle and watch what happens! I did that. Bowser is kicking butt, Luigi is down to two lives already, while everyone else had lost one (Bowser was the last to lose his first life). Aaaaand there goes Luigi. Mario's down to one- oops. It seems like Peach snapped out of it and is fighting Bowser (Accidentally did not make it a team battle). Bowser won. |

Rules: Ness: 200HP Wario: 300HP Special Brawl
Items: None lol
Stage: Onett
Plot: After the SSE, Ness happily returned to Onett, his hometown. But, as looking out the window, he sees Wario in his bike, driving around doing fat guy stuff. Ness remembers what he tried to do to Lucas.

Same. Why won't bowser just do that already. He's become comedy relief, not epicnissity. Grodus, however....
Well, he's a moron. The only epic bad guy is any bad guy in a kirby game.
Oh, right.
A walk through the woods (melee)
Characters: Pichu and ... a LOT of people.
Stage: I's ongoing. Pichu goes for a hike in the woods (green greens) And say, Jigglypuff sings terribly after a fight, and makes the graphics terrible. (SSB dream land)
Plot: Pichu goes for a hike, and is interrupted.
Return of Marxe.
Characters: Kirby, Metaknight, and Dedede.
Stage: All built stages except one trip to the halberd.
Plot: Marxe supposedly 'returns', and they confront dedede at the castle I built, saying they need his portal to the sky. Dedede throws them in the dungeon instead. (a multitude of spikes, with a falling platform for a door to trap them in.) Dedede walks away, and then Kirby, and Meta die. They figure out it IS the portal to the sky, because in skyworld, Pit throws them off. They're then on the halberd, where Dedede says he impersonated Marxe. Later on, he throws them off, and kirby, and Meta land in a stage I bult, supposed to be the beginning of dedede's castle, and fight a solid gold R.O.B., then, they get to an assassin Dedede hired, and Snake says he planted a mine. Meta, and Kirby flee, and Dedede congratulates him for scaring them away with lies, and Snake says it isn't a lie.
The castle blows up, and goes to the sky palace, which turns out to be ruined. (another built stage) And he says 'he' in place of Marxe. Dark metaknight comes, and tells him to admit he impersonated him. Dedede, after a long time with dark Pit, admits it was Mr. Game and Watch, and the dark people back off. Shocker.
Lovesick puppets:
Characters: Link, and Zelda, on a team, vs. Mario, and Peach.
Stage: castle siege I guess.
Plot: The girls would be human players, along with one hero Basically the girls are practically controlling the guys like puppets like the *word that insults yena*s they are. Maybe not Zelda, but deffinately Peach. She got pwned by the same trick.

Oh yes, I did that a lot on Melee. Specially since I had "original" characters and some random ideas. Like this one (No "original" characters involved):
Name: Vet Mario (Melee)
Characters: Dr. Mario (Human) vs. DK
Rules: Stamina Mode, no items. Dr. Mario can only use the Megavitamin, using any other move causes the event to phale.
Plot: DK's disease is making him crazy! Please, Dr. Mario, cure him, and watch out, because he doesn't like the pills!
But, for Brawl, I'm plotting up something different. I have an entire plot to go by already, and I'm think of making a comedious fic with it, but I don't know if it's really a good idea. |
