From IGN..
Quote:
..a new version of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (NWFC). Aoyama explained that NWFC will remain a free service, but forthcoming experiences will require users to pay a fee to enjoy. These services will fall under the new NWFC: Pay to Play program. Games that utilize the new service will feature a logo similar to the one used for NWFC but is orange and reads Pay to Play at the bottom.

Uh oh... this does not sound good. I really wish they didnt say crap like that without clarifying what they mean. I hope they don't think I'm going to pay a monthly fee to play an Animal Crossing MMORPG.

If the games don't come with voice chat, it's not worth it.

...What the hell. Seriously, free online play was one of their big selling points. Way to push away moar fans.

I don't think this'll be completely replacing the free service. It'll probably just be for games whose servers require more maintenance.

That scared me. Why? Because right underneath it you have the TF2 man.

And yes me too.

I agree. And if JP Brawl online is free, then do not worry, Brawl US version will be the same, in other words, free.
Games that will cost money for online will probably be in the future.
Also...

This hints that not all games will require a fee.

Aw, pellets! If any future game comes around, I'm gonna have to apply to a Capital One Credit Card!! I don't want to get any Pay-To-Play Games, even if they ARE gonna include a Wii Edition of the Online Phantasy Star series!

*reads the story for more depth*

Oh, wait. It says I can opt to pay with my Wii Points! That's a close one.

I'd add Mario Kart Wii to that.

I doubt that. Nintendo wanted safe internet communication, so no.
