Maybe everyone has a special strategie, and some are harder to find than others. Those Ike mainers will be the best they can be soon, as his strategie was found quickly, and same with all the 'broken' characters. People experiment, and their first play with Ike is amazing because he's easy to learn, and they main him. But no matter how much they practice, you don't get much better. 'cheap' characters are like a light kart in a mario kart game. Sure, they're fast at first, but there's a limit to how fast you get, and the ones that move slowly, and grow quicker become much faster. (Actually not precicely, as everyone has the same limit) Example, people call yoshi unplayable. Yeah, you haven't found his strategy yet. Believe me it's there. Check smashboards. Everyone ignores ok players for the strong ones. I main ness now, (which is probably my longest time of keeping a main! Shocked Two days is a nice record for me.) Anyway, you'll get better with your person as time progresses. I bet we could all go main someone we absolutely despise. Yeah. Two days, and you'll love them. I've experienced it with my wild outburst of mains. In my time of playing, I've mained alot of people, and I'm decent with all of them. If you need more proof, I figured out I'm actually better with ness than Lucas. You can pick the good clone, but the others will catch up. They won't be better then you, but when you reach your limit, eventually someone else will reach the limit you're at, and brawl will be based on pure skill. You can stop calling them overpowered, and call them 'beginner's characters' if you like.

I think "Overpowered" characters are the faster ones, no matter how much damage they do relative to the others. If you attack so fast that the enemy doesn't get a chance to strike back, then they're definately going to seem "overpowered". Not to mention the ability to recover easier, get a distant item quicker, get in or out of a fight faster, etc. On a large stage like the Temple, a fast character could cover the whole area within 5-10 seconds, whereas a slow one would take up to 20.

Also, stronger characters don't seem to have very many ranged attacks, and since they launch the fast characters (Which are also usually light) farther, they'd have to travel to be able to strike again.

True, but once you develope the strategy for others, you can own as them. We'll call Ike a 'beginners' character, for the reason. And remember, fight spammers with spammers. If they spam Ike's side B, here comes Ness's pk fire. That's all there is to it.

No. Just no.

If this strategy becomes popular, someday, somewhere else, there'll be people being as much of whiney as the people here that whine on how overpowered Ike is. And these people would whine on how overpowered is Ness and how people SPAM his PK Fiyah.

The reason why people consider certain characters overpowered is that they can't beat the hand of someone that can use them skillfully, and they also can't admit they suck, so they instead appeal for the famous "Meh, it's a cheat" way to do it. If it's better than you, it's cheating. And, obviously enough, this way of thinking is for suckers. But many people subtly use them. And when you are whining on how overpowered, cheap, broken, beginner's Ike is, you are applying this thought.

Seriously. He takes too long to attack... He's practically dead by the time he pulls off one move.
I've seen people play well as him, though... >__>

LIEZ! Just to prove you wrong, I did a three-stock match against Ike with Wario on Final Destination with no items.

First Life Lost: Ike at over 100% damage. Wario had 87% damage at this point. Ike died from falling too far and his Aether failing to grab hold to the side of the stage.

Second Life Lost: IKE AGAIN at over 100% damage. Wario had 127% damage at this point. Ike killed by Wario's shoulder ram (Forward Smash)

Third Life Lost: Wario, finally. Was smashed off by Ike's killer forward smash at nearly 150% damage. Ike had 0% at this point.

Game, Set, and Match: Ike Dies at 14% damage. Wario Bike falls off the edge of the stage, causing Ike to move underneath Final Destination's ledge and kill himself with Aether. Wario had 50% damage at this point.

Wanna know how to beat Ike?

SHORT HOP, AIR DODGE, MIDAIR MULTI-HIT, AIR DODGE, WARIO BIKE, AIR DODGE, AIR DODGE, SEX KICK, AIR DODGE, MULTI-HIT...

Ike dies by Air Dodging his attacks...or Wario Biking over them, your choice.

okay, but it's still easier.

I got 3 kills at him with rob on today's interwebs custom stage, he got 2 on me in a 2 minite timed match.

first kill on him was fair. second was dragoon.
3rd was with a hammer.
