In other words...why is that character your main, or how did you find your main?
I'm just curious, ololol
Anyways, I just have been using Jigglypuff since the first smash bros. Before that when I didn't unlock her I mained Kirby. Then I unlocked Jigglypuff, and back then I was a huge Pokemon fan, having Jigglypuff as my favorite pokemon (and still is) I was happy indeed so I decided to give her a try. Holy crap I was so good with her, I won a lot of matches on the first smash bros with Jigglypuff. Then in Melee, she became my official main (back in the first smash bro I didn't know what main was) and I just used her for a real long time, I can't just give up on her, she's my first ever main.
As for Marth, I wanted another character to use besides Jigglypuff, and when I first unlocked Marth, I decided to give him a try (I liked his design, woo ) and I liked his air game and speed, because I'm really great in the air like Jigglypuff so I decided to have him as my second best air gamer. And thats how I main those two, I have been using both Jiggly and Marth for a long time.
As for Ice Climbers, Ike, and ROB, I actually started using them when Brawl came out, and I finally could use them easily and be really amazing with them thanks to Brawl's new speed. It seems that ROB and Ice Climbers are my 3rd and 4th best.
Oh and Zelda...I started using her back in Melee, though this was last year.

Falco: I watched some guys melee videos and was inspired on how well he used him so I decided to main him in SSBM, and then I just converted it over to brawl

Toon Link: He reminded me of Young Link from SSBM and plus I heard he was better then normal link so...Squadala! Oh and also when I first played as him and realized how much of an amazing character he was I just had to main him.

Luigi: I randomly got good as him in SSBM and then just converted him as one of my brawl mains.

Lucas: Online Matches nuff said.

Fox: I tried him out one day and realized he wasn't half bad, so I mained him! ^_^

Ah...

At first I used Kirby, after seeing how well he recovered in Melee. Since that was around my first time playing, I didn't really have a main.

After that, Captain Falcon, just for the PAUNCH.

Then I found out I was actually decent with Roy, so I used him. Then Kirby again.

And then, one fleeting moment changed my SSBing life.

A quick 1 on 1 against Sheik. Normally, I could take out a lvl 9 easily, but I had a fighting style that wasn't exactly good against physical attacks. Guess who got horribly slaughtered? D:

So I tried out Shiek, and found out I was about twice as good as with Kirby. And it just stuck after that.

And sometime a little bit after Brawl came out, I started practicing with Zelda a bit, so now I'll sometimes switch during battle, depending on the situation.

King Dedede was love at first site. I'd been begging for the pengiun to get in, composing little shrines for him and praying to the gods he'd be in a Super Smash Bros. I did this for basically nine years until he was announced for Brawl on the Dojo, at which point I jumped out of my seat and hugged the computer, quivering all over.

Of course, I ended up using Wario first, but that's just because I had thought Dedede would be useless in a competitive match. Boy was I wrong (and got Wario's ass handed to me several times).

Bowser was my first choice for Melee, because he was Bowser. He's the biggest, baddest brute around, and I never forgot that. Though I sucked with him in Melee, I tried him on the final stage of the Subspace Emissary, and instantly fell in love.

I main ROB because I tend to get knocked/fall offstage a lot, and he's got fantastic recovery.

...That, and I thought he was epic in SSE.

ok i just played with that character for a few matches and liked ownd so yeah i chose Lucas as my main along with Toon Link he owns so fast and so strong way too good to be true

Mr.Game and Watch is my main just since recently. I tried a bunch of random Characters online and I liked how playable he was, unlike in Melee.

Jigglypuff, because she always was my favorite Pokémon. For some reason, I was better with her than with most of the other characters.

Ganondorf because I thought that he was underrated, so I had to try and main him to prove myself that he's no that sucky.

For Lucario, I liked the whole idea of getting stronger as he took damage, seeing how I ten to rack up a lot of damage. I played as him in SSE and immediately mained him.

Meta Knight has always been one of my most favorite Nintendo characters, and I hoped for him to be in SSB ever since Melee. I love his fast-paced style of attack, and he's Meta Knight. Enough said. <.<

I hoped the same thing with King Dedede as with Meta Knight. He is by far my most favorite Haevyweight because of his recovery, Minion Throw, and his Smashes.

Yoshi was one of my mains in SSBM, so I had to play as him again.

Snake was a suprise for me... I played as him against hario and rocked using him.

Lucas: I played as everyone a little bit to figure out who to main and who not to main, and he was one of my better characters. I eventually got around to maining him and he eventually became one of my 3 primary mains.

Game & Watch: I mained him in Melee, so I tried him out again in Brawl. I'd heard he's been buffed, but I was surprised by how much better he is and instantly mained him.

Meta Knight: He's just plain awesome. I played as him for a while, but eventually focused on maining/trying out other characters. Meta Knight was awesome, but he lacked damage per attack and knockback. And with all these other great characters, I eventually almost forgot about him for a while. I later played as him a bit, and was surprised to discover that his knockback actually wasn't that bad. I also found out that I owned as him.

Kirby:I used him in Melee,and the original,so I had a good idea of how he would control.

Meta Knight:I was planning on him from the start,so I trained with him often.

R.O.B.:Atfirst,I didn't like his attacks that much,but I learned how to work past some of his limited range ones.

Because it turned out my first OC was a alt color for Kirby. :D

Oh, and Ness is basically a representation of his human form.
