Look at that. As an anonymous source leaked to MTV News, "Microsoft-owned studio Rare has been tasked with creating the interface and look for the controller." A motion sensing one, whose concept looks like this:

I don't even think that that concept will work for the 360, probably because it's the "serious hardcore gamer console" . Before I start a flame war here - I'm just disappointed about something like this that seems to be nothing but a ripoff to get a slice off the moniez cake. As the article says, such actions have once kept the industry stagnant for years.

I agree with Maiq. It's much better for both my faith in the gaming industry, which all those cheap third party "Milk the franchise of every *crag* cutesy movie and generally suck the money out of people or just make the dame shooter 50 times " games and my general faith in humanity's good. |

It looks like a joke, but I'd like to point out something that a Nintendo executive said before the Wii took off. I've read this in multiple articles before the Wii's launch, and I believe Iwata said it.
"We expect the Revolution controller to become the standard in video game controls."
If anything, Nintendo should be flattered to see that other companies are finding inspiration in the Wii, and they shouldn't complain about it. Of course, contradictions exist; and Nintendo can be full of them.
Really, though, is the Wiimote truly a "grand innovation?" It combines features already existing within the gaming industry, but doesn't create anything new. If it does innovate, it does so by being the first major console to primarily depend upon these features in its control design. This does create the potential for great games, but so far, few have taken advantage of the features. This goes along with what I said in the second Nerrcast, a while back.
Anyway, though, again, looks like a joke, but I only skimmed through the article in the link. |

Look. What sells is what gets copied. That is how business works. LOOK AT ANYTHING ELSE, ANYTHING and you will see copies. Do we complain though? Of course not. Because why do we care if there are two foot massagers that look the exact same, don't they do the same thing? WELL FOR SOME REASON, PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO BE COMPLETE DICK WADS AND COMPLAIN EVERY *crag* TIME A GAME MAKER COPIES SOMEONE ELSE! Was Sonic not made because of Mario? How many different versions of *crag* Pong and Tetris were there? What about Street Fighter and MK? You think all the other fighting games came out of thin-*crag*-air!? You're obviously right with the electric massage machine, but this is different. This is a much bigger situation. That looks EXACTLY like the WiiMote. I wonder if Nintendo's aware of this, though? Oh well, it'll probably phale anyways. |

If it works and good games come from it, that Microsoft has done good.
If it doesn't, oh well.
Hopefully, the 360 game developers will think of better uses than "menu cursor" for this. |
