Baby Mario is in the game because he is obviously a staple in the sports games, as well as one of the main characters in many of the Yoshi games.

Baby Luigi, obviously, appeared in Mario Kart: DD so Baby Mario would have a teammate. On top of that, he also starred in M&L:PiT.

Baby Bowser, or Bowser Jr, has appeared in several Mario/Yoshi games. Even though he is technically Bowser as a kid in very few cases, he is almost always shown as Bowser's son. He's already made a prominant place as an antagonist.

Baby Peach is somewhat understandable, since Baby Peach was in Yoshi's Island DS. Yoshi's Island gave Baby Mario his start in his career, so Nintendo may hope to include Baby Peach in future games. Seems sensible enough.

Baby Daisy has but one purpose in this game: To dethrone Daisy as the most pointless and worthless character in existance.

Baby Wario and Baby DK appeared in Yoshi's Island DS.

Baby Peach's debut was in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

Baby Bowser and Bowser Jr. are two TOTALLY SEPARATE characters. It's like calling the younger form of Bowser one of the Koopalings: wrong. He's also proven, through the fact that he can talk in complete sentences, that he's somewhat more mature than the other baby characters, or at least older (I'd guess around 7, like Larry).

Baby Waluigi...call me when Wario & Waluigi: Partners in Paradoxes is made, and I'll let him in.

Just you wait. One of these days, you're gonna hear about some Mario Baby Day-Care Sim of which will be an obvious waste of our parental skills! The day THAT happens is the day I write to Bandai-Namco Games, and Banpresto, and tell them that they should team up with Disney Interactive to create Super Robot Wars: Power Rangers Generations, with all the Ranger teams, all the bad guys, and ALL the Megazords with all the Finishers that can be packed into that game!

I mean, I know the stork delivers the babies in the Mario Universe, but how they're created, I think it's left to the Star Spirits and the Lumas! The Star Spirits hear the wishes of the parents-to-be, and then they forward the wish to the Lumas, who transform into babies to be delivered by the stork, and the loving parents have their wish granted. Plus, as for the Star Children, I think they were created from Lumas who ate a Power Star.
