As some people know, I'm sorta "bipolar". I visit two sorts of forums: The ones where we speak English, and the ones where we speak Portuguese.

The limitations of nationalities caused by language makes for sorta different worlds.

I chose to compare them by taking five aspects (Mostly bad, because their absence make a forum good). And for the comparison subjects, I used the forums I go to now: digibutter.nerr and Myutsu.

But, I don't dare making the whole comparison myself. I feel I could get biased and such. So instead, I got 30 testmonials, about five aspects and made by six people, three from each sort of forum.

It's not solely for the sake of the comparison, but I think both forums can improve looking at the other.

THE INTERVIEWED PEOPLE

Myutsu:

Digibutter:
-ShadowArticuno, one of the top members in being realistic.

All interviewed in 18/5/2008 or 5/18/2008, except for Keea, interviewed one day after.

SPAM

Myutsu:
-"You know, SPAM anywhere is shit. Specially at somewhere you go to everyday (in my case). SPAMming is for people who don't have something to do."
-"Lost is a *crag*. That's all I can say about SPAM in m2."
-"Really gay. It seems like Myutsu is afraid of other sites and puts it. ¬¬"
Digibutter:
-"It was pretty good for a while, but it's getting worse. The IUOS (International Union of Sloopy), surprisingly, isn't causing much of it, but it's mostly because we've sort of gained a bit of a thing where the spammers are cool and the RPers are bad."
-"A LOT. about 85% coming from OT. rest is from elsewhere, like quote pyramids, one word in a post, etc."
-"Either nonexistant or overwhelming. It fluctuates all the time."

FUNNY JOKES

Myutsu:
-"I don't usually laugh at the jokes. But the ironic people make me laugh. Most try to be funny and fail at it."
-"Not many, but we make the noobs fear lol."
-"What jokes? D:"
Digibutter:
-"Well, I seriously can't say any of our inside jokes are funny. I mean, the best we have is "It sank" and 4chan memes." (Author note: the it sank fad... it sank)
-"it depends, most jokes coming from OT are good some fails, and recently there has been a lot of fails in OT"
-"I guess most of them are funny, depending on how you take them."

FLAMES

Myutsu:
-"The most idiotic thing in the world. You have almost no need to do it. Specially when the flaming happens between the staff. There was one right yesterday. It's depressing."
-"People are getting gay on flaming."
-"I don't see a lot of flaming, but I can tell about when one of the pseudo-nerds goes on trying to pwn other pseudo-nerd and then they fight, never talk to each other again, keep on provoking each other, and go play pwning newbies."
Digibutter:
-"We usually don't have flame wars, but when we do, it usually involves someone's depression, or Petey Piranha."
-"spam, jokes, and flamings. yes"
-"Uh... There are a few people with short fuses, but otherwise, it doesn't happen too often."

ELITISM

Myutsu:
-"There's only one sort of elite. Staff > People that think they're cool > Noobs. It's always bad. Maybe I'm included in one of them."

Digibutter:
-"People take it way out of proportion. Elitism only exists in RPOT, and it's not as strong as it once was."

-"It usually happens in Role-Play Off-Topic, but not really anywhere else. Newer people that don't really use grammar at all are usually the ones looked down upon."

NOOBS

Myutsu:
-"At first they were good, but over time, they became pests. Like, before, they only needed to learn how to put up an avatar or sign. It's simple, and even I didn't know how to do it at first. But now, they do what everybody else did for LOTS of time ago faz and think it makes them cool. Or worse, when they try to make someone change opinions in a flash."
-"They're all over the internet."
-"They've simply taken over Myutsu. And now 90% of the users may become noobs, as the main site is gone and the forums is full of angry guests who won't register, and, when they do, they bring problems. Even so, 90% of the users already ARE noobs since those good times until CP2 (Gay emo _|_) was in. And there was that emo fanfic by Legista ._.""
Digibutter:

I totally agree on your digibutter take on NOOBS. A lot of good members I respected a lot have degraded themselves and turned into N00bs themselves. It's sad, really...
