Please regard this as nothing more than an opinion.
The section for introductions and "farewells" is probably intended to be used as a place for (obviously) introduction. Now, for the "farewell" aspect, the original intention was probably to inform other users of an absence for reasons such as vacations, computer-use incidents, or other temporary reasons.
Would you not feel as though it isn't meant for "I'm leaving because so-and-so is mean to me." and similar threads? This only contributes to "drama" and internet-based stress, in my personal opinion. In general, consider "letting up" on posting possible "dramatic" threads. It could very well improve the condition of this forum. |

I agree, and I have considered making it "Introductions" only.
Especially now that we have blogs to post your status updates, or about your rage against the machine. |

I agree. I see no liabilities in making it an "Introduction" section, and removing "Goodbyes". |

Supported. Completely.
As Francis said, all of the "goodbye", "I'll be gone for a while", and "*crag* you guys, you're mean, I'm leaving" topics can easily be posted in the blogs section.

I think we should have a forum for mainly Introductions, but have a Stickied "Returning/Leaving Topic". You'd just post there once and leave, and there would be NO posting there when you're not returning/Leaving. For example, if you were telling somebody "NO DUN LEAVE" or "kbai Hario", or something like that. If you really wanted to get through to that person, said person could create a blog thread on the subject or you could just PM them. |

I think it would do us good to simply have leaving threads forbidden. Since about 98% of the members who leave "for good" can't stay a damn month away, we don't need to take the drama when said member is going to leave; they can just do it on short notice.
Ulti's idea would be very efficient though _________________ My siggy is original. |

+1 Support Point. It would be useful to remove "Goodbyes, and I'm Backs" from the Introductions, mainly because we now have the blogs in which we can say that we are leaving because it usually, has something to do with our lives.
Also, I believe that this is a great idea, mainly because, I have noticed that there has been an increase in flaming inside of the Introductions. This will then reduce, hopefully, all the flaming inside of that forum. |
