I need help getting stars in order to unlock some characters. Halp plx?

You really have to try to finish a track at the right time. I'm not sure what the time is though, so just try to finish as fast as you can.
Also, don't bump into walls. And use a fast kart/bike and your set to go.
Getting hit by a shell/blue shell won't affect the rating, but it does slow you down for sure, so try to have a banana or a shell to protect yourself from red shells. And for blue shells...I don't know :P

For a fact, and from experience, I know that you have to get 1st place on all the races, and you have to beat the computer by a certain number of seconds. I believe that if you beat all four courses in one cup, and if you beat them each by 2 seconds, then you should be getting a "one star" for doing that.

As Small Sammer Guy said, don't bump into walls. Also, try not to go into the grass, etc, and don't fall off the track. Those usually result in a dropping of a rank.

You don't necessarily need to get 1st in every race. Just don't mess around, AKA don't get cough Off-Road/Fall off the track/Bump into wall and use the Drift Boost/Bike Wheelie conveniently to finish as fast as you can.

I did get item bad luck in a race, earning me 4th place (in the race). But I still got a Star Rank on that cup (I finished all the other races in 1st).

Do very well on all the tracks. That doesn't mean to get 1st all the time. So yeah...

Try not to run into walls or fall off areas or into stuff and you should be fine.

Yah try to get 55+ points. That wont always make u a star but its good. DONT BUMP INTO WALLS OR FALL OFF!!!

150cc is easiest to get stars on - if you get first on three races and third or higher on the last, you're pretty much guarenteed at least one star.
