Today's subject is no other than the Hero of Time himself.
1st June - Mario 2nd June - Donkey Kong 3rd June - Link 4th June - Samus Aran 5th June - Kirby 6th June - Fox McCloud 7th June - Pikachu 8th June - Marth 9th June - Mr. Game & Watch 10th June - Luigi 11th June - Diddy Kong 12th June - Zelda and Sheik 13th June - Pit 14th June - Meta Knight 15th June - Falco Lombardi 16th June - Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard and Pokémon Trainer overall 17th June - Ike 18th June - Solid Snake 19th June - Peach 20th June - Yoshi 21st June - Ganondorf 22nd June - Ice Climbers 23rd June - King Dedede 24th June - Wolf O'Donnel 25th June - Lucario 26th June - Ness 27th June - Sonic 28th June - Bowser 29th June - Wario 30th June - Toon Link 1st July - R.O.B. 2nd July - Captain Olimar and Pikmin 3rd July - Captain Falcon 4th July - Jigglypuff 5th July - Lucas
So, as one more of the 12 big veterans, Link has had the experience of being a swordsman in SSB before any Marth, Ike, Meta Knight or Toon Link. Do you think that the original deal is still as good as it's ever been? Do you enjoy his play style? Do you like his design, which has drastically improved throughout the series? Do you think he's no match for the toon counterpart, or that he actually can pack a bigger punch if used well? _________________ My siggy is original. |

They changed Link a ton in Brawl, I think. They made him a ton heavier and extremely slow, which is a disappointment. I was planning on possibly making him a secondary main before the game came out, but know that I see what he feels like, he doesn't fit my playing style at all. D: |

Link...thine light of yon holy Triforce hath left ye.
Ages ago in the golden age of Melee, Link was a decent force to be reckoned with. With the holy Spin Attack of Spinning, as well as many other signature moves, the hero of time could really create pain in many a smasher.
Recreated in the age of Brawling, Link hath been cut from his sacred powers. The speed he demonstrated in OOT or even Twilight Princess are nowhere to be seen. Link is inferior to his Toon counterpart in nearly every way, especially super cuteness and SPITEFULNESS!
Link is too slow for his own good. He is the character I play the worst as. His knockback does not really balance with his new lack of speed. Let his farmboy buy the farm already! |

I'm personally not a fan of Link, (long story short Twilight Princess is fail in my book)
Right but to be fair. he also deserves a Lengthy "O'review"
Links got lots of ranged variety. An improvement from Melee his bow has less of an Arc. fires faster, for longer range. His bombs are decent, The Gale boomerang has a Push back feature ( IMO if it was just an attack Item it would have worked better) Which can be used to harass opponents by pushing them away or towards you. The Spin technique is Chargeable now, Its lost the KO potential of old. His Grabs have some range thanks to the good old Clawshot, but unfortunately if you miss, you are left completely open to an attack, the clawshot can be used as a tether recovery as well. Often overlooked in brawl, Link Retained a lot of his KO potential. His regular swordplay is decent enough to KO, Some of the more Abusable Meta techniques ( like canceling the drawback from his down A aerial) have been nerfed. The Triforce slash is powerful for a Final Smash doing a guaranteed 60+ Damage to the unlucky one caught in the Fury of blows. doing damage to the surrounding foes, and almost always KO'ing the primary target. Overall This Link seems heavier, already being on of the Heavier Characters In the original and In Melee Makes it a bit of a weakness. On a unique note, if you stand still with nothing in your hand, Links shield will block most projectiles ( crouch for ground crawling Items)
Link's Speed and Predictably are his weakness, unfortunately these quality's are easily taken advantage of. his "best moves" often carry a hefty drawback, usually in recovery time. Mainers should use his B moves to create an opening to strike with a powerful sword attack. Dodging and counter attacking are more his strenght. I highly recomend mastering the sidestep dodge, and the rolling dodge.
On a closing note, Link is Ironicly Overshadowed by Toon Link.(which I will expand upon on the Toon Link discussion). |

Link was never a particularly great character...his power was offset by the enormous lag after most of his attacks. He's been reduced in effectiveness even more in Brawl - the spin attack, his main killing move, has been nerfed tremendously in both power and range, and, as if to add insult to injury, he's now an extremely slow character and can't jump for shit.
One of the improvements Link has received is the Gale Boomerang. When used strategically, it can be used to gimp a number of characters' recoveries. This doesn't apply to every character, though, which doesn't exactly make it a deal-breaker. His ZAir is decent for doing damage, and can, in theory, be used to set up bomb combos...but thanks to his crap jumping skills, that's a bit difficult to pull off. |

Link....his heaviness is his Achilles Heel. He's gawd-damn slow, and his fastest moves are chargeable. The best thing about Link in Brawl is his incredibly strong FS. I like using Link every once in a while, just for training purposes. |

Link got unerfed from melee so that makes me happy! But however he's still pretty slow when it comes to movement and smash moves. He barely makes a secondary for me... |

ugh...people overlook Link just because Toon Link is "better" well let me start off by saying NO CHARACTER IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER. Link and Toon Link both have their ups and downs. Link is harder to use, but if used right, he is a bit more powerful than Toon Link. His grab is faster, his bombs are stronger (A LOT stronger), his dair is extremely powerful. But Link has one freaking flaw, his speed. Yet Toon Link has a little power and speed, he is loved by everyone. I have a brother who mains Link as one of his mains, and he's REALLY good with Link, better than a Toon Link <.<; He has been buffed from melee, his attacks are faster, he's stronger, and his grab has improved. Also, his air moves are a tad stronger than Toon Link. So overall I think both Link are great in their own ways, people just need to main the one who's fighting style fits best, which is like, no one here. |

My avatar says otherwise >:C
And I really hate Link's jumping in this game. But I deal with it... Link was my main in SSB64. I played him for a while in Melee, and now I almost never use him in Brawl. D: |

D: | think of Link as a slow powerhouse like Ike, Bowser, etc. Link is hard to master, but he is really strong. Toon Link is...an easier Link to use, very begininer friendly. yeah, think of it like that |

Hm. Link doesn't seem nerfed to me, in fact, he seems a lot better than he was in Melee. Though I do think he should be able to rack damage with the Gale Boomerang, a weeny bit at least. I barely noticed the lower of speed; he wasn't truly fast back in before, now, was he?
The thing about Toon Link over Link, sadly, is all about speed and the antigravitational D-Air. People don't recognize Link has much more power and somewhat beats Toon Link in range. Personally, I'm more a speed player, but I still do better with Link. _________________ My siggy is original. |

Not true.
It is possible for you personally to become better with one character than another, but the game is not as balanced as you seem to think. Many characters simply have better statistics than others. Sure, it all comes down to skill in the long run, but just because you can kick ass with a character doesn't mean that the character is suddenly equal in quality to every other character in the game. Hell, even as a mainer of one of the low-quality characters, I can see this. |

alright, so lets say two pros are having a match, one using Link and the other using Toon Link. Would you say that Toon Link would be the definate winner? This is just like saying Lucas is better than Ness ._. look, if I tried Link out and I was facing a Toon Link player, I would have SOME type of strategy to take him down, a Link strategy. I have seen many great Link players, and all of them took down my Toon Link (I was really good with him, but I don't use him anymore) |

Assuming that they are of 100% equal skill level, then yes, Toon Link would be the definite winner.
That is what tier lists assume - that both players are of completely equal and of the highest possible skill level. The thing is, that sort of match-up rarely, if ever, occurs. |
