It came to my attention not to long ago that the internet has had a significant impact on my life and my ideas. I have theorized that the combination of coming into contact with literally hundreds of different people and the fact that the internet is the worlds largest well of knowledge on virtually all topics can change nearly anyone. I for one have met several extremely intelligent people who have changed my life for forever, and I believe in a positive way. Not to mention the influences that one establishes through indirect contact with people, kind of like role models, though developed through the the series of tubes as opposed to through television or movies. I believe that this generation that I am currently living in is primed to hold some of the greatest thinkers in mankind's history due to the fact that they have had their minds expanded through the internet. Now of course, there are the mental death traps like 4Chan and Youtube that continually corrupt even the most brilliant people, but I still think there is hope.
Discuss. |

Hm... As you said, there is 4chan and Youtube crap all over and things of the sort, so the capacity of high smartness is low in the internets. Or at least while we speak English; I visit forums where you speak Portuguese, and the people around do a lot of homossexuality jokes and things of the sort, but in the end, there's still a lot of smart people you can learn something from. |

Defiantly, I've met some great people that really have changed my life for the better. Course I've met some people I've wanted to strangle too, but everything in good balance. without the internet I don't know where I would be. plenty of good friends have stopped me from doing stupid shit ( this includes moments of suicidal thoughts , because I'm not perfect)
On top of being an information highway ( helping with questions you have) the people you meet really do Inspire. |

The internet...honestly, I was dead in the water without it. I knew nothing before, was oblivious to culture, and was generally just another stick in the mud, a dreg of society who could make some right choices but would generally go with the group.
The internet's saved my life. The internet's helped me save lives. It's inspired me to be a better person, help others like it helped me, and it still continues to help me today.
Every day I grow stronger from the internet...and I have no way to repay it except giving it my sincere thanks. |

Due to empathy being unnecessary on the Internet, it's the only social way I'm comfortable with.
Of course, the Internet is home to both easily-accessed encyclopedias and opinion debates. Just by browsing Wikipedia, I was able to learn more about a ton of stuff.
But what I like the most is to find out things myself, and think beyond the information suggested.
Of course, there are some people who follows Internet Memes and fads religiously. I a friend of mine that spams old jokes that he found epic >_>. And not only 4chan memes; he always spams something only a site's local would know about.
For example...
Quote: | TheUntamedLegend: > *person* > Funny (Laughs)
Person: > The Untold Legend (Laughs) | He replies with this unoriginal joke only because someone called TUL "The Untold Legend" once. And he says that at least once a day. |

The internet has introduced me to lots of people, fads, memes *shudders*, and interesting facts. I've found people who I've been at odds with, best friends with, and just interesting to see.
There's a huge chunk of my life that the internets are a part of; I have to say it has thusly impacted me a lot. |

The internet has had a huge effect on my life and my beliefs. I myself prefer logic and things that can be proven to faith and hope. I say this because seeing things in text is better for me, easier for me to communicate. The internet has opened my eyes to a lot of things, and changed me in many ways, especially Digibutter. |

It goes without saying; The Internet is important in many ways because it's the biggest source of information we have. |
