Please note that I am doing this thingamajigger out of sheer boredom.
Basically, I'll have ten titles, and anyone on the site can vote a game to nominate under 'em. At the end of the month, I'll post a few polls to find out which game is notorious for what. There are ten spots maximum for each topic.
Also, your choice of games is limitless. It can be any games released for any console.
Err, yeah. so here are the topics:
Best Gameplay Title says it all, chumps. 1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 2. Final Fantasy VII 3. Super Mario Galaxy
Longest Lifespan How much game was there? Sometimes there's a giant epilogue, but sometimes the game designers aren't so generous. Make your call. 1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 2. Final Fantasy 7 3. Animal Crossing: Wild World 4. the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 5. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
Juiciest Plot Twist Well? Which game pulled the biggest Anakin Skywalker on you? 1. Zelda: the Wand of Gamelon (FREAKING LULZ) 2. The World Ends With You 3. Assassins Creed
Best Characters Well, do I really need to explain? What game had the best characters? 1. Tales of Symphonia 2. Final Fantasy XII 3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 4. Metal Gear Solid 5. Duke Nukem 6. The World Ends With You
Most Interactive Gameplay Basically, what games made you feel like you were actually there? 1. Endless Ocean 2. Portal 3. Metal Gear Solid 4
Worst Overall Game Now is the time to tell us what game really grinds your gears. 1. Mario Party 8 2. ET 3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 4. Super Man 64 5. Haze
Best Graphics Oh, save us all. Well, good graphics don't necessarily make a better game. 1. Super Mario Galaxy 2. Team Fortress 2 3. Metal Gear Solid 4
Biggest Tear-Jerker Which game had the saddest ending? Grab a tissue and think about it. 1. Super Mario Galaxy 2. Conkers Bad Fur Day 3. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII 4. The World Ends With You 5. Super Paper Mario 6. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time.Darkness
Best Level Design You know this one, Mario fans. Not to spread any bias or anything. 1. Super Mario Galaxy 2. Endless Ocean 3. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past 4. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 5. Super Mario World
Best Plot You know this one. RPGs tend to exceed here. 1. Final Fantasy XII 2. Pokemon Pearl 3. Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 4. Final Fantasy VII 5. The World Ends With You
Yay, update.

Put Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss just for the heck of it. Oh, and maybe Tales of Phantasia... |

So do we copy/paste the categories and put one game under each one? or do whatever Fireice did? |

K. You need to say what categories you're nominating them for though.
And SSG, does that answer your question? |

hmm okay. Personally, I think Tales of Symphonia wins in Best character, I just love how the characters interact in the game, and character development is shown here, for sure. FFXII is close in winning the Best characters though... Final Fantasy XII wins in Best Plot for me, because the plot is just...something different than any other RPGs I've played. And defiantly different than any other FF games. IMO, Super Mario Galaxy wins in Best Level Design, because I like the idea of spherical worlds and plus, the levels are HUGE. Mario Party 8 wins in Worst Overall Game. Basically, its another sequel but it gets worse and worse, and this one sucks. It got really boring the 2nd day I played it. The boards and Mini Games are boring... |

Best Gameplay: Brawl.
Longest Lifespan: Brawl. It's an endless fighting game.
Juiciest Plot Twist: When duke onkled is a bad guy in wand of gamelon.
Best Characters: Brawl. 35 epic brawlers, plus Tabuu, Ancient Minister, Pokey, Ridley, Petey, and dozens of others.
Most Interactive Gameplay: Endless Ocean. It's like you're really there....
Worst Overall Game: ET Atari 2600, followed by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Shit GBA.
Best Graphics: Hotel Mario hands down. Just kidding, I'm going with Super Mario Galaxy, followed by TF2
Biggest Tear-Jerker: I cried when the universe exploded in SMG.
Best Level Design: If you can understand my logic, Endless Ocean.
Best Plot: For sheer ingenuity, I'd say Pokemon Pearl.

I'm only basing this off of games released since Q4 of last year.
Best Gameplay Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

Juiciest Plot Twist The World Ends With You (DS)
Best Characters The World Ends With You (DS)
Most Interactive Gameplay Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
Worst Overall Game Haze (PS3)... it was just bad.
Best Graphics Metal Gear Sold 4 (PS3)
Biggest Tear-Jerker The World Ends With You (DS)... it wasn't the ending that was sad, though.
Best Level Design Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
Best Plot The World Ends With You (DS) |

I haven't played TWEWY yet, but from what I've seen, its target audience is angsty emo 15-year-olds whose parents beat them when they get home from school. Shame on you all. Anyway, here goes: Best Gameplay: Shadowrun. There are so many first-person shooters that do absolutely nothing to be original, but Shadowrun is much, MUCH more than your average run 'n' gun frag-fest like Halo or Call of Duty. But like anything original that ever comes out on the 360, it gets overshadowed by the festering pile of mediocrity that is Halo 3. It's pretty much a bargain-bin game now; I picked up a used copy for $20, but it was the best $20 I ever spent. If you've got a 360 or a computer good enough to run it with Vista, it's definitely worth getting.
Longest Lifespan: Team Fortress 2. Pretty much everything I said about Shadowrun applies here too. It's a first-person shooter, but it's class-based and has a huge element of strategy. All the classes are very different, and even if you suck at FPS's, you can find your niche pretty easily. Playing different classes is like playing a completely different game, so it'll take a looooooong time before you get bored of this. Oblivion probably comes in a close second here.
Juiciest Plot Twist: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. If you've played it, you'll understand.
Best Characters: Portal. Everything GLaDOS says is hilarious.
Most Interactive Gameplay: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. There is a main quest, but for the most part, you can go wherever you want and do whatever you want. There are tons of quests, an arena, different factions to join (i.e. a mage's guild, assassin's guild, thieves' guild etc.)
Worst Overall Game: Elelemnts of Destruction... got this piece of shit for my birthday because it "looked like the best game they had". Don't even get me started.
Best Graphics: I'm gonna have to second MGS4. I've seen screenshots and videos of it, and it just looks amazing.
Biggest Tear-Jerker: Portal. It wasn't the ending that was sad, but when you had to euthanize the poor defenseless Aperture Science Weighted Companion Cube nearly made me cry. Oh, the times we shared together...
Best Level Design: Do ROM hacks count? If so, I'm gonna have to nominate The Second Reality Project 2: Zycloboo's Challenge. It's hard as balls, but the level design was ingenious. If that doesn't count, I guess I'll go with Cave Story.
Best Plot: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney again. |
