On the Sega CD's Special Edition release, by pausing the game and entering a code it's possible to unlock a special head for Jim. It seems to be Donkey Kong with an arrow through his head. This was a stab at Donkey Kong Country, as the game became wildly popular and overshadowed the release of Earthworm Jim.
