That is, until we watched the super catchy, seemingly Wes Anderson-inspired trailer posted after the jump. Upon viewing it, we fell instantly in love -- and became all the more excited that, according to AndriaSang, a demo for the game will find its way onto the Japanese PSN sometime next week. Importing stuff from the PlayStation Store is a huge hassle -- but something tells us this one will be worth it. An Insomniac Games forumite named Paul Grzelak recently completed the labor of love you see above -- a stainless steel Scrabble tile set using the Lombax language from the Ratchet & Clank series. The set came about as a collaboration between Grzelak and Insomniac's Paul "Pacman" Haile -- a collaboration that not only resulted in the tiles seen above, but also in the formalization of the Lombax language, for which Grzelak received an in-game credit in A Crack In Time. Neat story, right? If you were hoping to get your hands on a set of these tiles for ... some bizarre reason, you're out of luck. Grzelak only made 25 sets, one of which went to Insomniac. Michael De Luca may not be a name you recognize, but he's had his hand in a number of cinematic accomplishments, producing films like Michael Myers' "The Love Guru" and Nicolas Cage's "Ghost Rider." He was also set to be a producer of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation. However, De Luca sees the project falling apart, citing difficulties in getting "the agendas to match up" between Konami and Sony Pictures. De Luca told Collider that Konami (most likely at the request of Kojima Productions) was "very protective of their property." Perhaps learning from the experience with Silent Hill, Konami may have wanted to avoid tarnishing its most celebrated brand with the poor track record of video game movies. All hope for a Metal Gear film isn't lost, though. De Luca does admit that if Disney's upcoming Prince of Persia film does well, Konami and Sony are likely to resume their talks. Until then, may we suggest buying the Metal Gear Solid 4 movie on Blu-ray? Sure, the movie is frequently interrupted by "gameplay" segments, but just think of them as incredibly elaborate menu screens. [Via Videogamer]

One of the best fighting games of the current generation has to be BlazBlue, the latest from Guilty Gear creators Arc System Works. A PSP version is currently in the works, and as is typical of many Japanese games, no US release has been announced. That's likely to change, as Siliconera has discovered a GameFly listing for the PSP version of BlazBlue. According to the rental site, the publisher is none other than Aksys, distributors of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Considering Gamefly's penchant for leaking releases, this should come as good news to PSP fans.

But what of the franchise that people most closely associate with From Software (among people who associate From Software with things) -- Armored Core? At an Armored Core Silent Line Portable tournament in Tokyo, From Software dated the PSP version of Armored Core: Last Raven for March 4, and (more excitingly) announced a brand-new entry in the mech series, Armored Core 5. No details of the sequel were revealed beyond a release date, though the new AC5 site suggests that more information will be forthcoming January 14 (or when the Famitsu leaks hit). Mysteriously, clicking the big "5" on the site links to a Google search for the word "senjou," which means "battlefield." You mean there's going to be fighting in this mech combat game? Update: Reader Kenoji has pointed us to some off-screen footage of the teaser trailer shown after the event. It's posted after the break.

While we personally believe that there's no room for uncertainty when it comes to royal kidnappings, we suppose it's appropriate in the case of Mediatonic's recently announced PSP Mini, Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess. Keep it straight -- there's no doubt whether a princess has been stolen. She definitely has. The parenthetical modifier in the middle of that title is referring to the Monsters, who may or may not have stolen said Princess. Even without any prior knowledge of the heist, we'd bet they were somehow involved. We digress! In M(P)SMP, you play as The Duke, who reacts unfavorably to the disappearance of his beloved princess, and begins pummeling random monsters in an attempt to rescue said heiress. We expect monster sympathizers worldwide to get their dander up when this one launches on the PSN sometime in February.

According to a scan of the "Rumour Machine" section of the latest UK Official PlayStation Magazine found on Playstation Lifestyle, Tecmo's flagship fighting franchise, Dead or Alive, could be set for a return for the first time since Tomonobu Itagaki's departure -- and this time, it'll be on PS3. The magazine, which also rehashes some old rumors, claims that Dead or Alive 5 is "in production for PS3," something that doesn't necessarily rule out an Xbox 360 release (a PlayStation magazine would simply have no reason to mention that). It seems does likely that Team Ninja would want to develop a new DOA. After all, that's the perfect showcase for the studio's latest Jiggle Tech(R) -- now in triple-D. The most recent Dead or Alive game to be announced will also be on a Sony platform: the beach minigame collection, DOA Paradise, which is coming to PSP this spring. Maybe now that Itagaki's out, Tecmo can pursue whatever interest it must have had in publishing DOA on PlayStation -- something that hasn't happened since the Xbox was released.
