If you've played the Borderlands 2 DLC campaigns Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt or Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, then you're familiar with Triptych Games - even if you didn't know it. Triptych was behind those two DLC campaigns, and helped out on Duke Nukem Forever and its Doctor Who Cloned Me DLC. Now the studio is seeking funds through Kickstarter for an original project called Fuzzy Slaughter.

Fuzzy Slaughter is a 3D co-op beat-em-up for up to four players, starring a cadre of critters on a journey to take down the evil PITA! sandwich chain responsible for farming said critters for their delicious meats. The combat itself is combo-driven, with a suite of juggle, air and ground attacks, and throwing. An in-game currency system will finance all player progression and unlocks.

Triptych Games is looking to launch on Steam for Windows PC, with a goal of $50,000 needed through Kickstarter. As of publishing this story, the drive currently has 39 backers and a total of $955 pledged.

Primal Carnage - Agent Trapper DLC, all new content for Primal Carnage is Now Available on Steam.

The Trapper gets a black tie ensemble and a new set of golden guns with this skin.

Changes in the patch 12.0.2.2 versus 12.0.1.4:

* Uncommon start-up errors fixed
* Audio problems with certain MOV files fixed
* Color correction is now calculated on the GPU making it significantly faster
* Image repitition or jumps occurred with non-integer framer rates in certain object constellations

The Rage Tool Kit arrives on Steam today, to help you with your primal scream therapy and/or create mods for iD Software's idTech 5 game. The mod tools were originally planned to launch alongside the game, but work on that fell to the wayside in favor of Doom 3 BFG.

There'll still be some waiting involved after today's release, as the file is a "hefty 35+ GB." It'll be in the Tools section of Steam when it arrives. Prepare yourself before or during that long, long download by reading the FAQ.

- When using smart tab switching, fixed not being able to cycle to controllable units if your currently selected using is dead.
- Players that play on a league game will now have access to that league pass.

WEBAPI:
- Added Team query to WebAPI. Query is GetTeamInfoByTeamID, params are start_at_team_id and teams_requested.

LEAGUES:
- Players that participate in Leagues will now have access to watch all games for said league in the tournament tab.

BOTS
- Made Necrolyte bot more likely to use Death Pulse to heal himself.
- When considering purchasing an item and determining whether there's room in their inventory, bots will now consider whether the item will stack with an existing item.
- Bots will no longer sell a situational item in order to retrieve a situational item from their stash (fixes purchase thrashing).
- Witch Doctor will no longer use Maledict on non-hero units.
- Slightly lowered the maximum desire to attack a non-hero unit.

One day, children will gaze up at the sky and fully believe its cottony bounties were named after hyper-sophisticated streaming data networks. I plan on being dead by then, so that’s good. But, at least in the short term, Gabe Newell’s not so sure. Yes, there are some fairly functional examples already up and running, but Newell believes they’re far from optimal. Here’s the real kicker, though: this, he claims, isn’t a shortcoming that a little time and elbow grease will fix right up. Actually, those things may well make it worse.

Valve co-founder Gabe Newell didn't drop any major announcement bombs during his DICE keynote address, but he did provide insight into Valve's current, internal approach to the gaming industry. Newell discussed the evolution of Steam software within the context of future hardware, notably Valve's Steam Box, and stressed the continued importance of the PC.

As for the Steam Box's in-home PC streaming system, Newell said it would be a cheap addition to any TV, starting at $100 and eventually hitting $0. "The price point that's going to be hit is going to be much, much lower than things we've traditionally seen in living room devices. Better, it's basically a PC in the console form factor and at the console price point. There's nothing really magical about the hardware - this is the great thing about PC, is that it's been evolving so quickly."

Businesswise, make the in-home streaming experience a great one and it could serve as a gateway to high-end PC gaming, Newell said: "A user who has a great experience using in-home streaming is going to be much more likely to upgrade to a PC in a console form factor and then continue to invest."

The Steam Box will hinge on in-home streaming rather than cloud gaming, and Newell explained that he was a long-standing skeptic of cloud gaming. As he saw it, the cloud incurred a huge network cost that could collapse the system upon its own success, and it put latency compensation in the wrong place, at the center of the network rather than the edge.

"One thing we believe is latency sensitivity is going to increase in the future," Newell said. "The ability to do local, high-speed processing will become more important than it is right now."
