There have been instances where some random ad would be sent to a lot of people on my friends list from my account. I want to change the password to make sure it doesn't happen to me anymore.

You should be able to do this on the live.com website...

Most people just get a new email address, but it's still dangerous. If it doesn't work, tell everyone to block you.
