My goal is to have everything user-created. So, for this work (so that everyone doesn't have to be expert animators), it needs to be pretty simple.

Each fighter will need:
one full-body sprite, 32x32 in size. This is what is used on the battlefield.
one "close-up" sprite, usually of it's head. For other uses.

That's all. No animations needed, but I may make it a possibility for extra effects (like glowing lights, moving gears, and stuff).

All states will be layered no top of your sprite. So if you are burning, a semi-transparent fire sprite will be layered on top. If you are dead, you will turn into a tombstone.

I don't see a need for walking animations and stuff, do you? Do you think people will WANT to draw out every different state specifically for their fighter?

This I like. Though, I must know: Could we use idle poses for the appearence (you know, the fighting stance) instead of one picture?

I think we will keep it simple at first, just one sprite. Then maybe allow more spriting in phase 2.

Quite alright. Just as long as I can make a Stev-0 in there...

Can we have walking animations if we want? We'll most likely need default sprites for lazy people, and it'd be great if we could edit them too (and use them for other things...). So, We've got enough talented spriters on this site to make some walking sprites.

What direction should those two sprites face?

Maybe make most frames an option?

I, for one, know that I'd like to basically make every usable pose.
