I was thinking maybe it would help us to get more good quality members if when someone joins an veteran member befriends them until they aren't so new anymore.

Or maybe we can have an IQ test during registration and the lowest scorers don't get in. C:

So you are thinkin' about a buddy system? You know, a vet who can show a new person around, teach him/her/it/hippo what to do and what not to do, and so on?

I find that offensive.

Though the buddy system seems good.

Yes, and and IQ test wouldn't hurt either as long as it's not unreasonable.

I like that idea. That way, we'll be able to get new members who might actually STAY.

This test should also be required of all current users to validate that they do in fact deserve to be here.

Well, myself, I'm not entirely useful whether the system would be of any use. People who need to improve tend to take time rather than help. And then there's lost causes, and people that just fade away quick.

But, it won't harm anybody, at least I think, so, supported, as long as kept strictly optional.

+1 Support Point.

I think if people actually saw other people helping them out, and it was their first time here, then I think they would feel more comfortable. I'm willing to volunteer to help people out, and maybe even organize something.

...this is a definite +1...
...a buddy system would give new members a 'handle' to cling to, whilst they still are new...
...someone shoudl make a group for the people to sign-up to be a Nerr2newb...
...or whatever it shall be called...

I like the idea. Just make sure the buddies don't screw with the new guys telling them to do something stupid. Also, more people should have a newb2nerr. I wish I had a buddy, the closest thing I had was Mr.L who helped me out in areas in the forums.
