While the game may be a parody of TF2, it is not the same game.
If you come into this game with a TF2 mindset it will only get you so far.
The classes are the same, and for the most part they serve the same purpose, but there are two major differences.
A third person view and a 2D battle field.
That being said let me explain to you how the classes function in this environment.
Basic Controls
Left Mouse: Fire Right Mouse: Alt Fire ASDW: Move/Jump Shift: Score E: Call Medic F: Taunt
Overweight/Heavy: The Wall
Gear: Minigun, Manvich
Because everyone has infinite ammo and you don't need to reload, the Overweight suddenly becomes a much bigger threat. Your purpose in GG2 is largely the same as in TF2, though some differences do apply. With your bullets constantly flying you can create an immovable wall that no one will be able to get through, especially with a medic, without killing you from a distance. Set yourself up in a strategic choke point and just start firing. You'll be surprised with the result.
However, the Overweight still has his weaknesses. His range is fairly short, and with all the jumping involved in GG2 it makes the Overweight even more immobile. You need to get yourself in an advantageous position BEFORE firing, or you are going to get taken down while you are trying to move to a better position.
Runner/Scout: Flag Carrier
Gear: Scatter Gun
Unlike in TF2, the Runner is pretty much useless outside of his running abilities. Without the first person, the Runner's speed doesn't help him much unless he is trying to escape. A skilled Runner can certainly still be a threat, especially to short range classes like Infiltrators and FireBugs, but he is still at his best when he is scoring.
FireBug/Pyro: WHAT THE FU-
Gear: Flamethrower
Like in TF2, the FireBug is a great ambusher. While you might not think this would work as well in a 2D battle field, you would be dead wrong. Most players don't expect a ball of *crag* fire to suddenly coming running at them from just off screen, and new players will undoubtedly panic.
Remember, you are fast but your health is still average and you need to get in close, so don't stop once you begin your charge. Once in, start moving erratically. Its really hard to hit something that is on top of you in a 2D plane, so use this to your advantage.
Also, you are no longer much of a Spy Checker, more on that later, so don't be spraying everywhere unless if you don't want to alert the enemy.
However, instead you are now the Detonator's biggest worry. Your alt fire is a compressed air blast. With it you can send players back a bit, and stickies for miles. Be sure to clean up any mines that may get in your teams way. You can also blow rockets right back at the launcher.
Rocketman/Soldier: Fragger
Gear: Rocket Launcher
Soldier was a pretty standard class in TF2, and the Rocketman isn't much different. His chief strength is distance and power. Stay away from the enemy and get some height. Whatever you do, don't go into close combat. Your rockets still hurt you, and getting in close means you'll be taking damage too, especially now that you only have a launcher.
You can still jump, but there is an added bonus as well. You can now shoot rockets at your allies to bump them up as well. However, this is a double edged sword. You will ALWAYS have to be higher than your team members or on the front lines of a battle unless you want to be hitting your teammates and missing the enemy. It won't hurt them, but you won't be hurting the other side either.
Detonator/Demo: Boomer
Gear: Mine Launcher
You are out a grenade launcher but get infinite stickies in return. Well, perhaps some explanation is needed. You can still only have eight stickies out, but you will never run out of them. Plant them at key points like captures and wait in a defensive area for the enemy to come, or go into battle launching mines at the enemies' side. It can be a major distraction.
When in one on one combat, run backwards shooting mines at the ground or a low ceiling where your enemy will be running. If they notice them, they'll go the other way. If they don't, well they die. It's really a win win situation.
Just like rockets, the mines can knock people up, so watch out.
Healer/Medic: Uh...Medic
Gear: Needle Gun
This is the only class that really functions exactly as it does in TF2. Heal with a beam attached to the patient, hit alternate fire for an uber when the bar fills up. You still have your trusty needle gun as well for when it's time to take some revenge on whoever killed your mate.
The only real difference is that you can now see everyone's health, so you will know who you need to heal without them having to call for medic.
Constructor/Engineer: BUILDIN' A SENTRY
Gear: Shotgun
The Constructor can build a un-upgradeable sentry anywhere he wants without the need of metal or any of that shit. However he also can't repair it, so you will need to build a new one when it is about to die. The sentry is still a formidable opponent and with you to back it up it can take down just about anything outside of an uber or an enemy rush. Place it at a choke point and get ready to battle.
It is inadvisable to leave a sentry alone to go out into battle for several reason. For one, if you die your sentry dies with you. Also, Spies are now ONLY invisible and can kill your sentry in one hit. So without you it's good as dead.
Infiltrator/Spy: Invisible Communist
Gear: Revolver, Knife
The Infiltrator is perhaps the biggest change from TF2. He can be invisible as long as he wants to, and he can stab right out of his cloak. However, this is all he can do while invisible. This means that you will have to get in right next to your opponent to do any damage at all unless you want to lose your cloak.Wait for them to stop in battle, or eat a Manvich..., and activate the stab. It is nearly impossible to get one off while moving, so don't try it.
Sentries are now taken out like everything else, just back stab it. Also, you will not shimmer when you hit someone, but if you get shot splatters of blood will shoot out everywhere.
Bottom line, don't get shot.
Rifleman/Sniper: Distance Jockey
Gear: Rifle
Pretty much the same as TF2, although now he is a lot more viable in close combat because his zoom doesn't limit his vision as much. He is the only character that can see enemies just off screen. In layman's terms, the scope just widens your view of the field.
Line it up and let it rip.

There is said to be a secret class within the Gang's ranks.
But what could it be, and how can you access it?
An old Story tells of the secrets to this mysteries tenth class being hidden in a Cave below the old abandoned FAUCeT Factory.
Perhaps one day you too will come to possess this forbidden knowledge.
I might add some more later.
I'm still learning the game myself. |
