ITT we discuss Microsoft's Project Natal, the full-body motion/voice/face recognition system they claim will be here next year. I have yet to see any tech info, and I find it hard to believe that Microsoft invented this motion capture technology before the movie industry or other scientists did. But, if it is not smoke & mirrors, or witchcraft, Project Natal will revolutionize more than just gaming. Note that it says "Product Vision, features and functionality may vary" ----http://venturebeat.com/2009/06/02/microsoft-games-executive-describes-origins-of-project-natal-game-controls/ Quote: Natal is a city in Brazil, which is where one of our key development team members if from. Natal also means birth. It uses an RGB camera (image sensor), a 3-D depth camera (which determines how far away an object is from the camera), and a multi-array microphone. The companies are doing a lot of great work with the cameras. But the magic is in the software. It’s a combination of partners and our own software.

LRRR, OVERLORD OF OMICRON PERSEI 8 STANDS BY HIS POSITION IN THE MICROSOFT E3 THREAD. IT IS GOOD TO SEE THAT REAL COMPETITION BETWEEN THE DEVELOPERS IS HEATING UP AGAIN.

WHILE THE MOTION CAPTURE DURING THE CONFERENCE WASN'T PERFECT, WE MUST REMEMBER THAT THIS IS THE FIRST WE'RE SEEING OF IT. ONCE GAMES USING THIS TECHNOLOGY REACH RETAILERS IS WHEN WE CAN REALLY START EXAMINING ITS FLAWS.

It's kind of sad how they give 360 gamers an imaginary friend. (Milo) Still, this looks very, very, amazing. Best E3 conference Microsoft has had for a while.

This is something that I have been interested in for quite some time. Didn't expect to see it for years, however.

I see this not coming for a few years, or just being horribly unused

As far as Flavio is concerned this is just Microsoft making a big deal of a souped up Eyetoy. Though something about the whole menu navigation seems appealing to Flavio. Also does anyone else find that fake friend thing to be hilarious?

Did any of you ever play Eyetoy? Seriously? It isn't that different. I personally think Sony's controller looks much better. There is only so much you can do without buttons. And as Eyetoy should us, that isn't much. And leave Peter Monoply alone. He made Black & White. And that's a game where you can train a giant monkey to set villages on fire.

I like how this is Microsoft's way of saying "kiss my ass" to Sony and Nintendo.

Bye bye controllers. Bye bye Wiimote. Technology sure develops quickly today. Well, let's see where this will lead us. Instead of waggle waggle or iPhone groping, soon all we de is air waving. Guitar Hero: Air guitar edition.

Jeez, if this works as accurately as planned, there will be no big three. Just Microsoft.

Ì just hope they won't sucker up to the casuals too much. I'm at the point where I'm willing to abandon Nintendo just to get some decent games again, and not shovelware or merchandise. Sadly, all the series I like are with the Big N.
