This is how it will be done. You will purchase stats for your items. So a coffee that restores 5HP will cost 5 coins to make. Changing your color would be 15 coins. Restoring 5HP AND changing your color would cost you 20 coins to make. Each copy of the item you create will then cost 20 coins. Then you can sell the items at whatever price you want.

but francis has to approve all items.
But that might end up being a hassle for him to have to approve or disapprove each and every item sent to him. He would also have to do the coding for the item. With my idea of a point system, he could code something that would handle the creation of items so that he would be free to focus on other things. He might occasionally have to intervene if someone makes an item that's too powerful, but it would probably be easier than having to approve of any items sent to him and coding each one that gets approved.

Not really, All you have to do is send him the details then he will say

approve or Disapprove

APPROVE!

Imagine getting asked to approve of each and every one of the items in the item submission contest topic. Imagine being asked to create a specific item that he's already disapproved of 100 times. Imagine all the work that might have to be done with deciding whether the item is balanced well against others. Imagine having to code each and every item that gets approved.

I'm glad to see that my idea was helpful to you.

Wait a second... What's to keep everyone from getting items as cheaply as possible by making them themselves? If a person can make healing mushrooms for 10 coins, why would they ever want to buy one from someone else for more than that?

What's to stop me from opening a shop simply so that I can make a copy of someone else's item instead of buying it from them?

There should be a limit of some kind on the creation of items. Maybe there should be a large fee to design the item, and after that fee is paid, it'll be possible to begin making the item for a much smaller fee.

Another possibility would be having everyone have a maximum number of items that they an be allowed to design. After that limit is reached, they cannot design a new item until they delete one of the designs, and deleting a design might come with its own costs.

Ok 1 I'm out of school for the summer. 2 it will be very hard to actually get/make a script that allows free items creation. At least I'm pretty sure, I am in no way an expert int the subject.
