It was a normal house, in a normal town, on a normal street, full of normal people. Or, whatever you want to call it. Inside the said "normal house", whose walls were still incomplete, there was a girl with a wiimote in hand. She, of course, was playing Super Paper Mario. Jessica stared at the large widescreen T.V situated in front of her, immersed in her game. However, this would not last for long.
"Hey, Jessica!"
The girl muttered something obscene under her breath, and turned her head toward the hallway. "What?!"
"Look what I did!"
Jessica sighed, getting up from the couch, and walking down the short corridor leading to her brother's room. She leered at the boy sitting on the bottom bunk of his bed. The leer quickly turned to an annoyed stare when she saw what exactly the boy had done.
There sat her brother, an N64 and Gamecube controller in each hand. On the screen, there was a picture flickering back and forth between two games, with bits of static in between. "Look, I'm playing both games at the same time!" The boy exclaimed with a naive grin.
"... You're gonna wreck the wires for those game consoles, Nick. Choose one game and then play it."
"But..."
"Do you want to play any of your games again?"
The boy sighed, and quickly obliged to his older sister's request. He flicked the switch on the splitter to the number assigned to N64, the small T.V quickly showing Paper Mario on-screen, the image of the second game in the series disappearing in the N64 game's wake.
"Now, I'm gonna go back to my game. Please don't do that again." Jessica sighed, walking back to the living room, and sitting back down. She quickly found herself in the same position, playing her game once more. "Y'know, I kinda wish this game was a bit more... difficult." She thought aloud.
Jessica then snickered a little, an absurd thought crossing her mind. "... Although that wouldn't be very nice to poor Mario, Peach, Luigi, or Bowser, would it?"

On the screen, a familiar rainbow-colored butterfly flew right behind Mario. He was running around Flipside, with Tippi following close behind and Thudley trailing her. They headed towards the store, coming back from Fort Francis and low on supplies. She flew closer to him than before, more comfortable around him after her rescue from Francis.
Silently, she hummed a tune in her head. Tippi couldn't recall where and how she had learned the melody, but it seemed very familiar to her. Overall, she was more cheerful than before. |

Doopliss waited.
And waited.
"Why isn't Mario making his move?" he wondered.
The game was still running, the battle ongoing, but the input had stopped.
Mario and Doopliss were simply standing, staring at each other while Nick was busy playing the other game. |

Jessica sighed, pressing the button required to enter a building. "Luckily it only takes seconds to get from area to area..." Okay, maybe that was an over exaggeration--- those elevators took forever. "Mmm, now, let's see what's for sale?" She yawned, scrolling through the list of items presented to her.
She quickly decided to buy a few Long Last Shakes and a few offencive items, noticing that the display stated that only 300 coins had been collected; it wasn't worth it to spend a lot on expensive items. "That should do it."
She paused, hearing a noise. "DAMN IT, NICK, STOP PLAYING THE GAMES AT THE SAME TIME!" Within seconds, she was back down the hallway, ranting at her brother. |

After the purchases, Mario just browsed while Tippi hovered beside him. Probably planning and evaluating future buys, she thought to herself, to keep from impatience.
Tippi looked out the shop window into the sky. The Void kept growing larger and larger, and it chilled her to the tips of her wings. As she stared at the growing darkness, something caught her eye.
It was a similar shape to the Void, but inside it, Tippi swore she saw a room, and it looked much different than any room she had been in before. The second "Void" was much smaller than the original, but just large enough to see inside it. |

"That's better..."
His turn came, and, as he was scripted to do, he made some sarcastic comments, and copied himself as Mario's shadow.
He was pretty low on health, but he already knew what would happen at the end of the fight. |

"Jeez..." Jessica walked back into the room, sighing with relief. Her brother was now playing the Gamecube game, which would keep the boy satiated for a few minutes. "Now..." She muttered, glancing at the screen, sitting down, and picking up the Wiimote once more. "... We can actually continue this game."
She pressed down "right" on the D-pad. Within seconds, Mario was out the door of the shop.
Meanwhile, the boy was playing the Gamecube game. He was watching the screen intently, pressing whichever button seemed fit. Nicholas had never been too skilled with RPG games, he usually just pressed the buttons wildly until something happened. |

"Jeeze....Mario's being really sucky..."
Dooplis began to gain the upper hand in the battle, taking only 1 or 2 damage each turn.
"At this rate we'll have to start over...again..." |

"Jessicaaaaa!"
"What NOW?"
"I need help!"
"With what?"
"I'm losing!"
The girl rolled her eyes, and got out of her seat once more. She headed back into her brother's room, and, once again found herself leering at the boy. She averted her gaze from the boy to the screen. "... You've got to be kidding me." She muttered.
"What? It's really hard!" The boy pouted.
"Okay, give me the controller." Jessica sighed, taking the controller from the boy. "You had better not ask for me to come down here again."
"Fine."
"Good." |

Meanwhile, back in the Orginal Paper Mario, that Nick had left running. Bowser had just stormed into his room, and confronted Peach, who he had caught reading his diary that he left laying on a table. Twink was hiding behind the chair and was playing his part.
Bowser hopped into the air, and bared his teeth. "Whuh...Wha...Whaaaat? What's the princess doing here?" Bowser questoned as the speech baloon containing these words continued floating in midair.
Dang...shouldn't the koopatrols be running in about now? Bowser thought to himself, not moving a muscle. |

Soon after taking control of the fight, the girl yawned, staring at the screen. She had temporarily forgot about the Wii game running in the living room. "Let's see where you are in the other game?" She mumbled, switching the T.V display again.
"Hey, I'm still playing, though!" The boy protested.
"Well, you aren't doing very well... And I just wanna see." Jessica yawned, switching to the N64 controller. |

Mario? Tippi thought. He simply stood there, soon getting tired and falling asleep. Hovering next to him, all she did was stare into the opening to the living room. |

As Bowser looked at Peach, he could've sworn he saw a living room in window, in the middle of space.
Suddenly, when Jessica picked up the controller, two koopatrols ran in the room, and Bowser turned.
"What is Princess Peach doing outside of her room? You two are the worst guards ever! Take the princess imediatly back to her room!" Bowser ordered the koopatrols as he played out his part. |

"Not again..."
Just as soon as the fight started to get interesting, it stopped again, inexplicably. He stood and waited as Mario's shadow, wondering when the next move was to be made. That's when he looked over at the wall opposite the window.
"That's odd...It seems a lot darker than before..." |

"Oh right, the Wii's still running..." Jessica remembered her previous actions. "You play those games, 'kay?" She was getting tired of ranting at her brother, so, she left back to the living room. It was only then that she noticed that the sprite of Tippi was, in fact, facing the screen instead of sideways as usual. "That's odd... is it a glitch?" The girl poked the screen lightly, confused. |
