Beat Zelda Echoes

It was a great game, but also frustrating at times since all the action is indirect and direct action has such a short timer I tend to want to save it for emergencies. So it kinda feels like pausing to select RPG menu actions for every attack in a real-time action game.

I’d love to see more 2D Zelda games though. While small and simple, the world is charming and cozy. Link’s Awakening 2 plz.

The game was also very easy, I only died maybe once or twice and only needed to drink a smoothie in the final battle onslaught. I didn’t even realize I could upgrade my swordfighter until the very end, and never came across the Great Fairy or automatons.

Speaking of automatons, this one is pretty schweet…

they gotta bring marin back in some other zelda game it would be so funny (she was in hyrule warriors but that doesn’t really count)

Thinking this might be the next game I’ll buy. Do y’all think I should go for this or MK8D?

Hard to say without asking for more info. I have Echos, but I haven’t played it yet. Surely, in 2026, you’ve already played plenty of MK8(D) by now regardless of whether you’ve ever owned a copy or just played it with friends, right? I would say to go for Echos, but that also may just be because I haven’t played it yet.

Honestly, you can probably get more playtime/content out of MK8D, but I’d personally say to go for Echos because it’s newer and I’ve yet to play it myself.

Very different games, obviously, but I’d say get MK8 unless you have it for Wii U, or you plan to get a Switch 2 soon, or you just aren’t into racing games. Echoes is fun but it’s more like the mobile Zelda games, so unless you adore the Gameboy/3DS Zelda’s, I’d wait for a big discount or something.

Honestly I’ve only ever played mk8d once. I’m a sad nerr with no friends lol. I do really like racing games and I’m good at them (and Link is in it!) so I’ve been wanting that. But also been wanting eow since it released… not super familiar with that style Zelda but it looks fun enough and worth a try. Although I might be getting a job soon with an actual income so maybe I can just get both lol.

Don’t have a wii u, wasn’t planning on getting a switch 2 either but again with the possible job…we’ll see.
