I got one of these and it actually works!
It has an app to send 16x16 images to the display over wifi. There are a few annoyances with the app but it may just be that I haven’t fully explored all the settings. Like choosing what is in the “feed” is not very intuitive and it always reverts to the default if you turn it off.
Also each pixel looks like an individual bulb that fades out towards the edges, so the resulting display isn’t quite as smooth and clear as actual pixel art. The Pixoo-64 seems to look better in that regard but maybe its just because the lights are smaller? I don’t have that one yet to compare ($100+ seems a bit steep for that).
But the best part is I was able to get the API working to programmatically draw whatever I want to the screen! (I took a chance on the 16 because I could only find examples for the 64).
Theoretically I could wire up a script that displays digibutter profile pics based on activity.
