I never got very far with this. Maybe I’ll give it another try if I can get it on sale for Switch. (it’s super cheap on steam but never eshop). Or if I ever get a Steam Deck.

It’s just a great game. Still in my top 10.
You should know it’s freeware though. The Steam and console ports are convenient, but they add minimal additional content (new (worse) optional music, new (decent but less charming) graphics, and a time attack mode), and Nicalis, the publisher of the ports, stole the rights from the creator by making him sign a misleading and poorly translated contract. It is nice to play on the Steam Deck though, since 16:10 allows for thinner black bars around the 4:3 game.
I’m the type (maybe annoyingly so) to say that if you’ve gone this long without playing a 20 year old classic, then you deserve to be spoiled, but I’ll hold back the urge for the Elite Nerr

Yeah I’ve started it a few times on PC but something about platformers on PC just doesn’t feel right, even with a gamepad

So I tried playing it on my Legion Go via Steam on Windows and the resolution is out of whack and the gamepad doesn’t do anything.

Maybe check out the controller settings in Steam if you haven’t already. The game is 4:3 FYI. Also try fullscreen vs windowed. SteamOS is bliss.
EDIT: If you don’t succeed with the Steam version, the original is freeware BTW. The Steam port just adds a couple of bonus modes and new sprites & music.

Figured it out…
To fix the scaling issue I had to find the executable, right click, and select Properties then:
Compatibility tab > [Change high DPI settings] button > check to enable “Override High DPI scaling”
To fix the controls, in Steam I had to enable Steam Input for this game and select the Community Layout that mimics keyboard controls.

Yeah honestly I like the look of the original better. I had no idea it’s been ported to like every platform imaginable 
. I actually really like the Roblox port because you can see other players like in Mario Wonder (no gamepad controls though 
)
