As you see, I have a Ps1 model “9001” and that yellow thing in the first picture is getting really hot (hot enough to blister me) and causing the power light to blink, can anyone tell me what this is and where I can buy a new one?
That board is the power supply. You should be able to tell from the plug connected to it. Don’t mess around with that if you don’t know what you’re doing. The capacitors could electrocute you. You should wait about 10-15 minutes after unplugging the console to let it discharge before touching it.
I’m happy to help, but you should try searching for and reading the service manual before asking for help in the future. The “yellow thing” is the transformer. Sounds like either that or a capacitor died on the board if you’re not getting power. Here’s a replacement power supply for $15 on eBay. I expect a commission for my help
Still think we don’t need #geek-gear @Francis ?

Thank you so much, so, you suggest just buying a new power board? I’ll try that, tge thing smelled really weird and I was concerned the thing was burning
I’ll be buying that
You’re welcome. Yeah, that’s what I’d suggest. I mean, just look up what a blinking power light means, you know? You can make sure the power supply cable is connected properly and make sure the AC adapter isn’t faulty, but aside from that, yeah, probably just replace the power supply.
That’s strange, tge ac adapter im using is from an Xbox 1 (they have the same) im gonna buy one specifically for the ps1 just in case
Alright, now thst I get my ps1 working now one of my controllers doesnt. I know it isnt the controller port. It’s a duelshock 1 and it simply won’t connect anymore
