Your current Switch software will be playable on successor

Vague on if that also means physical cartridges, but I assume yes.

• Furthermore, Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the
successor to Nintendo Switch.
• In addition to being able to play Nintendo Switch software they currently
own, consumers will be able to choose their next purchase from a broad
selection of titles released for Nintendo Switch.
• Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its
compatibility with Nintendo Switch I explained today, will be announced at
a later date.

I was just about to post this.
It’s great to hear about the backwards compatibility. I think it makes a lot of sense, but Nintendo’s decisions aren’t usually all too easy to predict. That’s a nice little bit in the investor report too.

I mean, they’ve generally been focused on appealing to all demographics with their consoles, particularly the Wii-era. That was like, the pinnacle of intuitive and easy to access. And, well, the Nintendo Switch menu is relatively simple compared to PlayStation and Xbox. Its games are pretty wide-ranging, and overall, very accessible console. One that IGN would give a 7/10 to.
