You don't need to back it, because I'm pretty sure they would make it regardless. I mean they are already finishing up a new Shantae game coming out soon (You think it's coincidence that this kickstarter started out right before the release date?). Kickstarter has become a pre-order and marketing machine.
Selling the extra goodies to hardcore Shantae fans is cool. and maybe they need the extra funds to develop on new platforms. but don't feel any pressure.

it's probably going to cost about $15 anyway, so backing it pretty much gets you the game you'll buy anyway, while allowing you to feel extra good about yourself
