Donkey Kong Country returns is kinda like ectasy, everything about it just feels so good.

I suggest you buy it, its hard as hell, the levels are beutiful, the OST is amasing, and the gameplay is tight and easy to pick up. my only complaint is that you can't add a second player in mid level, you have to exit the level, sacrafice a life to add them, and then start the level all over again. I give it 9.5/10 , though if I only count single player its a solid 10/10.

It's not that Newgrounds doesn't vote in gradients, rather they only vote in tens.

I know a lot of you have been asking about this. I suggest that you don’t watch, but I know that some won’t be able to help themselves. I’ve placed the video after the jump to avoid spoilers.

A portion of a Eurogamer review… This game has the potential to win over a whole new generation, and to do so without eliciting any whinges from those of us old enough to remember the taste of a McRib washed down with Tab Clear.

I apologize, I have not had time to proofread. I will do so later tonight. I just wanted to make sure I got the review up. What a weird path it has been to get to Donkey Kong Country Returns. I thought we would never see the franchise again once Nintendo did away [...]

#review The people responsible for turning Metroid on its head with Metroid Prime for GameCube now have their hands on Donkey Kong. What have they done with it? Delivered the expected, a Donkey Kong Country game that goes back to basics. More »

I used the Super Guide.

There, I said it. I doubt I would have been so tempted under normal, non-reviewing circumstances, but I had a very limited time to get through Donkey Kong Country Returns, and I was getting pretty frustrated, and that happy little pig was standing there, waving a white flag and inviting me to put my feet up and let Super Kong carry me through the level. And I did. I mean, uh, I had to try out the Super Guide at least once for review purposes, right?

The presence of the Super Guide in this game is actually very important. Retro Studios seems to have gotten it where previous games haven't: with the Super Guide in place, allowing players to give up after eight lives and see a recorded playthrough of a level, Retro was free to make this ostensibly kid-focused Nintendo franchise game as painfully difficult as it wanted to. And it's a difficulty worth at least attempting to endure.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is full of all sorts of secrets! I know we’ve made mention of this already, but now you have some nice screens to check out the homage. I wonder what else is waiting for us to find!

This new Donkey Kong Country Returns trailer means this game's not kidding around. Retro Studios may have borrowed Rare's colorful designs, but it added a vicious platforming challenge to Kong's new banana-collecting adventure. Guess it really is on like ... well, you know.

Nintendo has filed a trademark application for "It's on like Donkey Kong" with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The company said the request was made "in honor of the upcoming Nov. 21 launch" of Donkey Kong Country Returns -- in other words, Nintendo is about to put a lock on the phrase's commercial use: "On Nov. 21, It's on like Donkey Kong[TM]!"

Of course, Nintendo both recognizes and encourages the everyday use of the phrase, describing it as "an old, popular Nintendo phrase that has a number of possible interpretations depending on how it's used." The ambiguity with which that's presented lets the mind wander past Ron's gleeful bowling pronouncement to dusty arcades with challengers quartering up, shouting "IT'S ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!" while choosing Akuma (again). Or when it's shouted across the internet by your friend on the blue team who just got no-scoped in the dome.

Okay, it's mostly used by gamers shouting at other gamers. Fine.

Last year, New Super Mario Bros. Wii introduced the "Super Guide" -- if you died eight times in one level, you'd get the option to have Luigi play through it for you (and you could take back control at any time) -- and gaming was ruined forever. (Not really.)

Nintendo has since included the Super Guide in Super Mario Galaxy 2, and now it's been confirmed that the feature will return in Retro Studios' Donkey Kong Country Returns. Should you die eight times (apparently the magic number just before most controllers are smashed!) in any level, you'll be able to initiate a playthrough by the white "Super Kong." Once he takes over, you can either watch the rest of the level be played for you or resume playing it once Super Kong passes any problem area. Of course, you won't get to keep any of the bananas, "KONG" letters or other collectibles picked up by Super Kong -- he has to be rewarded with something for his masterful efforts, right?

Our own first experience with the game, along with a subsequent preview, suggests that we might no longer shun the Super Guide when it comes to Donkey Kong Country Returns. We fully expect to be rescued by Super Kong at least once.
