Not really.
Although I came in second because in mushroom gorge, I was about 5 seconds ahead of the 2nd person, and then I was blue shelled, lightning'd and pow'd while in the cave part, thus falling me to fall into the pit.
I lost by a nose. x3

I was on delfino square, almost about to overlap someone, then:

Three Redshells
A blue Shell
Lightning
Pow
Blooper (not so bad but still...)
Pow
Blue Shell
Three more Red Shells,
AND a partrige on a pear tree more lightning.


From first to last in 32.453 seconds.

Oh yeah, and a bullet bill got me too.

I'd say the main item abusage is in the final lap. As soon as it starts, a blue shell ALWAYS pegs me....;-;

I'll agree with you all on this. Whenever I'm playing by myself, there's always atleast 3 bloopers per lap. Usually it is followed by lightning which comes around 4 times per course. Also, there is also the POW block which comes atleast 5 times per lap. It's really crazy how the CPU's use that many items in one course for three laps. I'm surprised that blue-shells and the bullet bills are rare, whenever I play.

Well, this is all because there are 12 racers instead of the 'normal' 8. So there must be more items being acquired/used.

That was what pissed me off about MKDS. It's not a test of skill, it's a test of who can get the best items. And when you're in first, you don't get anything but bananas and green shells. =/

Once, I was in last place at the beginning and I got a Blue Shell. I climbed up to first and threw it... It flew around the whole course, then came back and hit meh...
