Yeah! We could set our own effects, and when you summon a user, they could be like "Paper Luigi uses Super-Jump on ______!" |

Wait a second... there would need to be limits on what would happen. Maybe we could use the score for this kind of thing. Setting our own effects could work similarly to creating an item for the shops, but would use the score instead of the item cost to determine the power of it. Maybe we might even get the choice of having the effect be to attack the user of the assist trophy.
Oh and Francis, remember that it would be possible to go a little bit more crazy with the effects that could be chosen because of the fact that the assist trophy would have to select a random user.
Here are a few other things that I think would help it work a bit better...
Have there be a minimum number of posts for the user to be able to be summoned. If the summoned user doesn't have an effect chosen (because of the various users that don't come here anymore), then the assist trophy would have the same effect as getting Goldeen from a pokeball in SSB. These two things should give the assist trophy a small chance of not doing anything at all, which would help it keep from becoming too powerful.
Have a special second effect that could happen if the assist trophy is used against the person it summoned. It wouldn't make much sense for a person to attack themself now, would it? It might be a good idea to have another effect for when the person using the assist trophy is summoned by it.
Have it be possible for people to choose for their effect to target the next post made by the assist trophy's target. This is your chance to give users the chance to be more creative without having to worry as much about what you give to them unbalancing the system.

OR if you use a Pokeball, you can battle another user RPG style! In your profile, you can set your own attacks, damage, and how many times you can use each attack, but there's a limit. Then there can be items that regenerate the uses of your attacks! Then there can be effects to fire, light, dark, wind, water, and whatnot, like fire is burn and everything! (Burn you when you post) Then if you run out of HP, you lose the battle (and all your HP. Having full HP helps when you start the battle.)
Something like this!: Paper Luigi: Jump- 5 damage, 10 uses. Super Jump- 10 damage, 7 uses. Fireball- 15 damage (Burn) 5 uses. Hammer- 2 damage, 20 uses.
