As I mentioned in OT, today I hit my forehead on the windowsill and knocked myself out for a while. Since then, I've been dizzy, nauseous, headache-y, and feverish. A few friends just informed me that this could be a mild concussion and I looked it up. Turns out those things do happen in rapid succession after a concussion...
One friend said it might not be safe to sleep with a concussion, and my mom has actually been trying to stop me from napping until she figures out if it's that bad. I actually haven't been tired all day, but now I'm paranoid of going to sleep.
My homebound teacher, since I told him this after getting sick at the library, said I should probably go to the doctor for this. It's really late here, though. Another friend suggested the emergency room, but I really don't want to trouble anyone...
What should I do? |

Go to the doctor, you won't be bothering anyone, since if they don't help you then they'd get fired. It's their job to help you, after all. |

I meant like my parents. I don't want them to have to drive me so late. |

Well if you go to sleep with a concussion, then you'd probably stop breathing somewhere along the line. And I'm sure your parents would want you to stay alive for the night, right? You could probably sue them for not taking care of you to the fullest ability, too. |

Also, now I'm definitely not going to bed...
And it turns out I can't go back to the doctor's anyway because I haven't had new bloodwork done. We're going for that Wednesday. |

It's no hastle for your parents, if they care about you and what you want/need, you should definately get that checked out, or at least call some source. |

Okay, since we can't get to the doctor right now, my mom, who's had experiences with concussions before, is going to check on me every two hours.

...really, you DO have to go to SOME doctor to get that checked out. If the emergency room is the only option...I'm afraid that you should go with it. I just don't want anything to happen, and I'm sure a lot of others don't either. =P |

The doctors won't care if you go to the emergency room, after all, you're paying them!
Would you rather go to the doctors at an inconvenience, or would you like to have something bad happen to your brain?

If you ask your parents, they'd drive you to a doctor if it's really dangerous. Just tell them what's bothering you.
If you go to sleep I suggest let someone wake you up every two hours. |
