Today (May 20th for Europe) the first WiiWare games are available for purchase. You purchase the games just like you do Virtual Console games. There is a brief description and a few screenshots, but no demos. You get videos and player opinions about WiiWare games in the Nintendo Channel. New games, at various Wii Point values, will be added to WiiWare on Mondays. (Does this mean we won't see new Virtual Console games for a while???). My only questions is... how I can I become a developer so I can sell swoon.exe?
Pop supports WiFi highscore sharing and Wii Message Board messages. TV Show King uses your Miis. So we know that WiiWare titles can make full use of the console's features. Also of note is that FF:CC has the Nintendo Wifi "Pay to Play" logo, but you have to go to the game's instructions to find out what that means. It means you can buy DLC (downloadable content) like new dungeons, buildings, and costumes. But I bet logo will scare people away from buying the game since "Pay to Play" sounds like a subscription fee.
Here are today's games: FINAL FANTASY® CRYSTAL CHRONICLES®: My Life as a King™ (Square Enix, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, 1,500 Wii Points): kingdom building RPG LostWinds™ (Frontier Development, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 1,000 Wii Points): platform adventure Defend your Castle™ (XGen Studios, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone - Cartoon Violence, 500 Wii Points): fling the invading enemies sky-high Pop™ (Nnooo, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 700 Wii Points): Pop bubbles to score points and stop the timer V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack™ (High Voltage Software®, Inc., 1-4 players, Rated T for Teen - Simulated Gambling, 700 Wii Points): blackjack TV Show King (Gameloft, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): quiz show
If you try any of these games out, please let us know what you think! Wired has a great WiiWare Launch guide here with impressions of each game: http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/05/wireds-wiiware.html Judging by the reviews, it looks like LostWinds is the big winner.

My guess: They'll release Dr. Mario Online Rx, NEXT week. And they'll release Pokémon Ranch next MONTH, or maybe in July. But one title I'm waiting for is Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People! That oughta be a great episodic game for WiiWare.
Lots of reviews are coming in. Looks like LostWinds is the big winner.

The lack of a map and short length aside, this game is great and should definitely be a part of any Wii owners library. It is one of those games where you can just stop, relax, and just soak up the atmosphere. The future of Wii Ware looks good if games like LostWinds will continue to come out on the service.
So, should you download it? Yes, if you love all things Final Fantasy, especially the Crystal Chronicles series, and definitely if you enjoy strategy and resource management. If you prefer to swing your own sword rather than ordering some guy to go swing it for you, you may want to pass.

Defend Your Castle is a fun WiiWare game and a perfect example of what the service can bring to Wii owners. Namely, seemingly shallow pick-up-and-play experiences with hidden depth. XGen Studios' project features only a handful of basic play mechanics -- primarily, the ability to grab villagers and toss them around -- but it's frantic, occasionally strategic, and fun, particularly as a multiplayer game. It's also a deal at only 500 Wii Points. The big problem is that you will inevitably tire of the single challenge, even with the bells and whistles surrounding it. And, of course, there's the fact that a similar experience can be had for free on your Internet browser.
Man, I never thought it would take me 156 Days in FFCC: MLAAK to defeat the Dark Lord. In the beginning, I renamed King Leo as "Strong Bad," and named the kingdom "StrongBadia." A TRIBUTE to Strong Bad, and all of his awesomeness. I got an S Rank from the whole ordeal. Of course, with the Game Clear data, it'll take me quicker to clear the game, even with the DLC carrying over to the next game.
Of course, in Chapter III, sometimes, a Clavat would talk about Chime's underwear. And I'm thinking that each month, there will be new costumes for King Leo and Chime. Either June or July will have Summer Clothing.
