Quote: | What would you do if you found $108,000? A 17-year-old boy from Cedar City was put in this exact situation. He didn’t just find money, he found himself in a moral dilemma.
Jared Gray works as a part-time janitor at Southern Utah University. Weeks ago, he came across a bank deposit bag, lying on the ground at the University. Jared looked around, but no one could be seen.
He could easily have taken the money and no one would have ever known.
“That definitely went through my mind,” said Jared. “I knew what I had to do. I figured I should return the money.”
Jared called his uncle who works at the college. His uncle called a police officer and later, every last dollar was returned.
To give some perspective, here are a few things you could buy with $108,000:
-Three loaded H-3 Hummers. -Seven custom Harley Davidson Motorcycles. -43 Large Flat Panel HD-TV’s -Your own personal jet.
…just to name a few.
“It just wouldn’t have felt right to take it,” said Jared.
An S.U.U. spokesperson said that Jared’s honesty is more than they’d expect from a 17-year-old.
“It’s a huge thing for someone to turn in $108,000 that they find laying around,” said Jennifer Burt.
But Jared didn’t even think twice.
“I’d return it again, without a problem,” Jared said.
Jared said that the campus police gave him $20 for his honesty and a campus cashier made him cookies. |

lol $20.
I... definitely would have considered taking it, but it'd be way too difficult to explain why I was suddenly rich :\ So I think I would return it too. |

Well that must suck. Turn down 100 grand, and get $20 and cookies. I would have just taken the money. |

I'd take it. I'm sorry if it doesn't sound like a good thing to do... but hell 108,000 bucks? You'd have to be crazy. |

I would have returned the $108,000, without taking it. It would have gone against my morals. Sure, I could use the money and buy many things, but I'd rather earn the money myself, than to find a bag full of money.
If I had taken the money, I would feel very guilty for taking the money. As a small child, I might have stolen a thing or two, and I felt very guilty in taking the objects that I stole. I felt better when I returned the objects, and I actually didn't need them. |

What Jr. Troopa said. Even if I could by nearly anything a teenager would want, it would be against my morals and the guilt would eat away at my soul for the rest of my life. :)
Plus, I like cookies. -shot-

For such righteousness, he should've been given at the very least ten percent of the money. |

I would've thought taking it, and eventually would've thought "Eh, screw it. They lost it, It's mine now." But I still would know that that money didn't belong to me, and before long, I would've returned it anyhow to get rid of the guilt of knowing that the money isn't mine.. |

I would have taken it, and over the years spent it little by little in order to avoid accusation. |

I have horrible kleptomania, I would've took it with only a slight guilty feeling.
In real life, I'm an awful person. |
