I've been playing online a bit and everyone I race has a bike. Is there a reason behind this? Anyways, theres a poll to vote and stuff about which is better

Are you kidding? I've used bikes so much, I forgot there were karts in this game. So what if karts can go into "Level 2 Drift," which makes the power boost go on for an 8th of a second longer. They still suck.

Karts just aren't proper if you use auto drift. No mini turbo. D:

I'm always flexing between the two. It depends on who I'm using.

There are many karts and bikes around, so my criteria is the veichle itself, not whether it is a bike or kart.

I prefered bikes, but I made that conscious decision when I knew the Wario Bike was in the game. XD

There's no real factor that 100% determines a bike's advantage over a kart, though I'll say that the kart has a much higher learning curve than the bike. The GCN DK Mountain world record is held by a kart, so the track is really dependant. If it has a lot of turns, it's best for a kart, while straightaways are for bikes. Some courses (SNES Mario Circuit 3) are excellent with both, and JUSSST the right combo makes an excellent player.

Wheelies are better than the extra Mini-Turbo whatever.

Wheelies are even more abusable than snaking. Well, that is, if the track used doesn't have constant turn-jobs.

GCN DK Mountain has only one path suitable for wheelies, and that'll be the bridge to the finish line, so bikes are more or less useless here. There ARE many thigh turns, thought, making a thigh-drift angle essential. Drift boosts also are a great help here.

Another track, like Luigi circuit, is plain-out composed with straight paths from start to the finish.

SNES Mario Circuit 3, however, is basically turn, straight path, u-turn, straight path, u-turn, straight path, u-turn, straight path, u-turn, straight path, turn, long straight path, finish line. In this case, it's pretty much evened out.

Generally, I've preferred bikes because they are easier for me to handle. I find it easier to turn, on automatic and create a mini turbo, at long turns or short quick turns. I've been able to make more progress in the game with bikes than I have with karts.

Also, while using bikes, wheelies do help, whenever there is a long stretch. Sometimes, I'll save my mushrooms for a long stretch, and use them while performing a wheelie.

Sometimes, I'll occassionaly use a kart of a different class, just to have the same feeling of the karts, when I played Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart 64.
