What do you think of items? And do you turn them on?
Personally, I think of them as an annoying obstacle. I hate items so much, they get in your way. Example, you try to initiate a combo, and someone ray guns you, or uses fan on you, or beam sword you, assists/pokemon gets in your way, etc.
Final Smashes ESPECIALLY are cheap as hell :/
it gives ANYONE advantages, and its just annoying.
i always turn them off, and when i see items on wifi, i just...do what they do and spam items, or i leave the room

On brawl, items are okay. I just turn off the fan, and things that can backfire, + smash balls.


However, if we were in the mario kart forum.... Ooooooooooooh, that would get messy.

I only play endless timed matches as Ike against one level 1 CPU with only Smash Balls, Pokeballs, and Assist Trophies. It's just how I brawl.

Useful weapons and fun obstacles.

Those who don't like them are either atttn whore playing serious with "i dun nid itms lol", or people that should learn to appreciate them.

Items add the little fun to be had in a match. They add excitement and thrill to an otherwise far less-engaging match of button-mashing.

It adds to strategy and thrill.

And all Final Smashes have equal usefulness. Some are easier to trigger than others, but they're all equal in their own way. Plus, it makes the match a lot more hectic.

They're nice in casual matches, but they have no place in a serious match.

Depending on how a person uses items, is the way on how I enjoy the items. Items that can be spammed, like the ray gun, aren't good items for me, so I generally turn those off. Items that add uniqueness to the stages, for example, the Assist Trophies, and the Pokeballs, will be used by myself.

Though, as ? Block had said, if you are trying to go for a serious battle (combat) and want to prove who the better brawler is, then I recommend turning off all the items, because then it will show your real skills at the game. The items, in my opinion, just add ways of helping a person to win a battle.

I agree items don't fit serious matches but Smash Balls break the mold IMO. It's a matter of skill knowing to break them, and it's a matter of skill knowing to dodge your foe's FS.

I don't normally use items at all, but when I do my all random matches, I have them set on high.
