@Off Topic: I won't be round here soon enough to start Marth's individual discussion properly. Does anybody want to do it for me? And please, anyone willing to pick this up must NOT think Marth is overpowered, and should be ready to be strict about reporting SPAM, flaming and/or bashing.

Today our discussion revolves around the spacial bounty hunter Samus Aran. Is she better with or without the Power Suit (Speaking of ability terms, we all already know she's hotter without it >.>)? Is the shift between these two tough to deal with? Do you think Samus now is way better than she was in SSB64? Do you think Metroid needs more playable characters, or ZSS makes it count as two so it's enough?

I'd pick up Marth, but I don't know too much about his FE roots. D:

Anyways, I love Samus. Her combination of projectiles and physical attacks go together well. I use her sometimes for fun, but she's not really a main, persay.

Zero Suit Samus... I guess I don't really mind that she's in, it's just most of her attacks are really short range and barely rack up damage. Don't get me wrong, she is pretty hot. O=

Wooohoo Dual charecter Discussion Taim.

Powersuit Samus:
Samus is heavy, but Inside that bulky powersuit beats the heart of a woman....alright Samus has great range, and a variety of attacks, her ranged specials are quite strong, but admittedly the charge beam's knockback potential has weakened greatly since Melee, in turn her close combat skills got a small boost. an underrated quality of Samus is her jumping, as she jumps high and falls moderately slow, Her recovery is slightly above average, but its almost completely traditional ( she can use power bombs to recover in some instances) The Grapple beam Is good for tether recovery's but a missed hold will leave her open. Physical boosts aside Samus is weak at close combat. and can be taken advantage of quite easily. a strategy is to wear down the opponent from a distance and then go in for a kill. The Zero Lazar, Her final smash is a powerful attack Final smash. Its accuracy can be debated but when it hits, its devastating. and will transform her into...

Zerosuit Samus: Samus took all her clothes off! Note uniquely when she transforms to ZSS her armor becomes a great throwing Item ( opponents can use it too!) Alright seriously besides playing major fanservice (and hitting home on a few personal fetishes) Zero Suit Samus Is a great charecter. master at close combat, Repetitive weak hits to over time create a good deal of damage. Light and quick she is almost the polar opposite of her bulky counterpart. She is however easily knocked away from the stage, and her recovery is a little below average (but in turn her tether recovery is better) Strategy with ZSS Involves making your opponent constantly Flinch, a stun fighter. She however lacks a lot of KO'ing moves and her definitive one is a tad predictable. Her Final Smash she regains the Powersuit, however at close range she will suck in enemy's and damage them, not to be underestimated, as it can sneak a KO.

Mainers who play with Items should master both PSS and ZSS as the smashball will have them playing between them regularly. however Mainers without items will polarize to the Samus that works better for them.

Samus got nerfed. This is almost incontestable. In Melee, she was good; in Brawl, she's below average.

Her Charge Shot is smaller and has GREATLY reduced knockback (a Fox at 100% isn't even sent flying); her Super Missiles are slower and also have less knockback; her side-smash and down-smash have reduced range and knockback; her NAir is worthless, and her BAir is, once again, slower with reduced knockback. This were her primary killing moves in Melee; their reduction in efficiency harms Samus's potential greatly. Also, bomb jumping is more difficult now, but I'll get to that in a minute.

It isn't complete nerf-city with Samus, though; a few of her moves have been buffed a bit. The Screw Attack now has a property that sort of sucks enemies in, then spits them back out. It's actually humanly possible to hit with all the strikes in her FAir and UAir now. Her homing missiles come out a bit faster now, and bomb jumping, while it may be more difficult to perform, gives her much more horizontal recovery. In addition to this, her DTilt has been buffed tremendously, to the point that it's one of her primary killing moves now. Finally, her USmash has some decent knockback to it.

Her biggest buff of all, though, would have to be her ZAir. While it may not do much damage or knockback, it has amazing reach, and those who can master effective timing with it will find themselves able to drive the enemy all the way off the stage. A good tactic at this point would to be to chase them off and try to meteor smash them with her DAir. If you don't feel the risk is worth it, you may want to try hitting them with a well-placed Charge Shot or Missile.

As a whole, Samus's KO potential has been drastically reduced, which makes dealing damage much more important. In addition to her ZAir, try to stay in the air and keep up a steady barrage of homing missiles. They come out much faster in midair, and chances are that you'll hit the opponent with at least one per barrage.

I feel that Sakurai's intention was to make players use every part of Samus's moveset...buffing the underused moves, though, probably made Samus TOO powerful, so he also had to nerf her more powerful moves to compensate for it.

There's just one thing that I'm more than just a little bit peeved about, though: Zero Suit Samus.

It was bad enough that the only Metroid newcomer was solely in for sex appeal, but then he attached her to Samus. He was being creative, yes; no other character transforms into a completely different character as a result of a Final Smash, but the feature was so poorly implemented that it would benefits both players who prefer Samus and Zero Suit Samus if they were completely separate.

Zero Suit Samus players have it easy, though; after using their Final Smash, they can just taunt up-down-up, transform into Zero Suit Samus again, and continue fighting as normal. Samus players, on the other hand, are pretty much given the finger by Sakurai; they're unable to turn back into the character they want to play as until they grab another Smash Ball. In this sense, Sakurai is forcing us to either play without an interesting element of the game, or to be forced to play as a character I don't even want to acknowledge, let alone play as. Because of this, even with items on, I find myself turning Smash Balls off, simply because of Sakurai's poorly-thought-out idea.

Needn't bother. I barely even know anything about his past. XD

@ Topic: Hm, the B-Neutral doesn't seem that nerfed to me, I landed lots of potential KOs with it when Samus was a main-to-be of mine.

In Melee, it could kill at around or even below 100% with ease. In Brawl, it barely even sends them across half of Final Destination at that percentage.

I also main Samus (most likely secondary) and I must say, her special moves have been nerfed, but thats it.
Her other moves (bair, fair, nair, dtilt, utilt, a bunch of other A moves) however, has been buffed massively. I usually use these moves to rack up my opponents damage and then finish them off with either utilt, dtilt, fmsash, down smash(which is VERY powerful in brawl), nair, dair, or bair.
This new Samus is so different, I don't ever use her special moves(except Up B to recover) but now Samus is much better for me. She is a force to be rekoned with when in the air.

Samus... really clunky for me. She's slow, and she doesn't jump very well. I just don't like normal Samus. :\

ZSS on the other hand... great, fast attacks with long reach, and I love how she can stun enemies momentarily. Not to mention she has two tether grabs.

Samus and ZSS are both incredibly fun to play as. They sorta nerfed regular Samus, but ZSS- now THAT's a great character. I wish both of them had the Zero Lazer as a FS.

I can pick up Marth on the discussion day.

Oh, and I've been practicing more with Samus. I don't care for Zero Suit Samus much. I don't main either one, though, and I'm not sure if I ever will. I don't think Samus is TOO bad... She can feel clunky, yes, but I've managed to deal with that. =)
