No. The Mayan Numeral system only consisted of 0s, 1s, and 2s. Their 12/22/2012 Is about OUR 7/16/864. Even if they somehow figured out to use our numerals when making the prediction, there are 3 things killing the idea.

1) Jesus was born, and years became B.C. and A.D.
2) They started counting A.D. about 4-6 years after Jesus was born
3) Julius and Augustus/Octavian Cćsar both added their names to the calendar, adding 2 months.
4) If the Mayans Couldn't predict when the Spaniards would invade and destroy them, how could they predict the end of the entire world?
5) Just because the Calendar ENDS there, doesn't mean the world will, too. The Mayans can't have their calendars go on forever.

I never knew that, thanks for telling me that.
But still, even if what you said was true, why the rumors of the End of the World?

Because that's when the Mayan calender ends, and people are jumping to conclusions.

It's not just the mayans who have predicted the end on that exact date.

http://www.december212012.com/

It seems to be more than a coincidence that all of these sources predicted the same day.

It's impossible to predict the future without exact data, data they didn't have.

For all we know their predictions were completely made up. I mean most of the bible was, and people believe that.

History is completely controlled by the present perception of it, evidence seems to matter less and less to people. Hell, a lot of religious people don't even believe in dinosaurs, and we have physical evidence for their existence.

This goes for all other *crag* stupid shit as well.

This shit is worse than TU-24.

But at least it will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

The way my life's been going, I hope the Mayans are right. I'm not 100% sure if it's real or not, in December I will be a bit afraid for sure, but I don't think it will amount to anything.

Just so you know, I'll be adding more reasons to the list in my earlier post. They will be from other people and if I can think of them

Reminds me of when everyone was freaking out over that meteorite or whatever that passed through a while ago.

I don't believe it. Predicting earthquakes are more rational, because one could use evidence around them to predict when one is coming. However, predicting the end of the world? What was it supposed to be, a meteorite, or something? If I am correct in that they predicted that a large space rock would hit the earth, even if they were able to see a meteorite pass through the sky so many years ago, they would not have the sufficient tools to judge how large or how big of an impact it would have made, how fast it was traveling, and when it would come close to the earth, once again.

What I don't get is why people are so concerned with death/the end of the world. So what, if someone said when the world was going to end? I'd rather enjoy my life and not worry about such stuff.

I don't really believe the world is going to end. Personally, I just think they ran out of space on their calendar.

And to add to this, they can't predict an earthquake or whatever that occurs 4000 years later.
