It's the cause of all our major problems. Also, it may cause spammers to leave, and it will cause good, faithful members to stay.

Maybe just adding more strict OT rules? I mean I do have ideas.
Or renaming OT into something...not spammish.

You do that, and a very good majority of the members will leave. Not just the spammers.

Well, the members who like the site for other reasons than loose spamming rules will stay. Those are the good members.

It is, ultimately, Francis's decision, and I believe that he doesn't want to remove OT (From what he said on one of the Nerrcasts.)

I don't know. On one hand, many large, successful fan sites don't have forums like Off-Topic. On the other... many do. On one hand, deleting it could reduce the amount of spam on the site. On the other... deleting it could create flame/complaints.

I don't mind having an Off-Topic forum; I just don't like how it's the most active forum on the site, and how many people spend most of their times in there. Maybe a limit on the number of topics per hour there, to encourage activity elsewhere? I don't know; the problem isn't easily fixed.

If it is ever deleted, maybe a stickied "Youtube/Flash video" thread could be made to compensate for the lack of space to post videos, and a "funny image thread" could be made, as well.

No, there's plenty of users who just want a place to be able to post something epic or silly without fear of getting striked. If we delete Off-Topic:

Forum games? STRIKED!
Had a bad day and it affects something important on Digibutter (i.e., not being able to finish a comic due to computer crash)? GO POST IT IN DIGIBLOGGER WHERE NONE OF THE REMAINING MEMBERS GO ANYMORE.
Javascript code? YOU'RE GETTIN' JAILED!!! (since it's apparently strikeworthy in OT, it'd be 3x worse in General Discussion)
Item War? NO IT CAUSES DRAMA AND FLAMES AND DOESN'T BELONG STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE!!!!!!

Really, it creates WAY more problems than it solves. Imagine this place half as active as Boo Mansion, and then subtract a ton of activity due to a lack of TCG and a lack of being able to freely discuss and encourage use of the item system.

Maybe dividing Off-Topic, instead of deleting it, could work. There could be a "War Room" forum for item war discussion (Which, in my opinion, would encourage item usage far more than Off-Topic would), and there could be individual stickied topics in GD for internet videos and flash movies. If clans are added, each clan's forum could be the place for forum games, and digiblogger's activity would see a large increase as people could discuss their personal feelings there. There could also be a general "Community Discussion" stickied in GD, as well as one in each of the "clans."

With that, you'd be able to discuss everything you could in OT, but without a whole forum for it, and with greater efficiency.

I completely agree with these two ideas. One, it could reduce the amount of spam and flooding.
A stickied funny image thread would do nicely also.

I don't like those ideas much. War Room would be super-inactive, we have about 1 Item war every 3 months nowadays. Forum games being limited to clans is kinda lame, with just 4 groups you'd be splitting your thread's activity levels and membership by 1/4. Games like CFH's Detective Game wouldn't stand a chance.

The site just wouldn't feel right with no sort of Casual Discussion. If you're planning on making a YTP for example and want suggestions but it isn't much of a discussion, you put it in Digiblogger. Which few people go to due to it encouraging drama.

Plus, where would we put the International Union of Sloopy? D:

Then there isn't really a need to defend OT for item war purposes, if they're inactive. I think that a War Room, however, would have a larger amount of activity- if it is based mostly around the clans.

Well, there could be a "meeting place" forum for the clans, where they can compete against eachother in forum games, earning "points" for the clans, if you will. And for non-traditional games, PMs, C-boxing, or fireworks could help with starting the game. I'm not sure about CFH's game, though. What was it, again?

General Discussion could be the casual discussion forum, for anything that doesn't have to do with politics, religion, news or serious stuff like that (Those things could get their own forum.) GD would be like OT, then, but without spammy posts.

That could go in the possible Internet Video sticky.

If Social Groups are added (In a Clubs forum where each club gets their own thread, which any clan member could join), that is where the IUoS would go.

*crag* The IUOS. Thats a whole topic full of spam and flame.
My solution:
Make another category called: Nerr's Club( or something like that) and add these forums:

Games: make a new forum call Games N More or something.

YTPs can go into a MISC. forum and in a topic called YTPs(user made ones can go in YC) as well as the Image topic. This forum can also be used for small talk. Spam rules is used here.

The problem about OT is that some members here are truly truly spammy, so if there's no OT, GD gets spammed, many people jaled, many people leave, and the forums becomes more dry than it already is.

Other problem is that OT is the cause of the drydown. Everyone just posts random stuff there. I don't see the fun. Having nice discussions or good games that won't sink just because it has to live alongside other SPAM, that is fun. I know it from experience; I visit two other forums that are quite fun, but sadly, not truly active. Digi is very active, so we could make it very fun.

But in the end, as Lord Crump mentioned, killing OT would give us more problems than solutions.

EDIT: Lotsa posts while I posted, so I'll have to say, I agree with Lord Crump's division idea. though some people would still want the avid spam, the effects would be far less.

And whoa, my game is actually remembered by non-players. I thought nearly nobody knew about it just because it has to compete with all the spem.

Well, I see some of your points. I don't like the idea of, say, H.E.R.O. members being unable to join the IUOS which happens to be strictly NINJA. And I suppose that we don't need a War Room, the only real Item Wars would be between clans.

I don't like how forum games like guess the below poster or something like that have to be split into clans competing, it should be possible to do a 12-person free-for-all Quiz challenge or something.

All in all, I suppose it could work out. Only problem is that some of your ideas won't work until clans/usergroups come out, we'd have to wait for them to come out before deleting OT.

It has no flame.

And the spam is well-controlled. It sticks to the subject at hand, it's either epic, a Sloopy Bible entry, etc.

And honestly, just because its nature is spammy, doesn't mean it's absolute spam and needs deletion. Everything in there is epic, it has a Bible which is ridiculous epic, and it really helps everyone to understand what extents of spam are acceptable.

And if there's nowhere for the IUOS to go, you're also saying that things like the Ghostly Union of Boos or a Whacka Protection Agency or something like that is flat-out banned.

And Misc. would turn out to be EXACTLY like OT. The line between "Small talk" and spam is extremely blurry.
