The big, great, video game, gorilla, Donkey Kong is actually a important character in the Mario series, since he first appeared as the 2nd Mario character in the series.

In the 1981, the 1st game created by Shigeru Miyamoto was a game about a great stubborn ape stealing a carpenter's girlfriend. His name was Donkey Kong. He is a gorilla that wears a red tie, showing his initials, DK.

Miyamoto got his name from looking up for another word "stubborn" He eventually found "Donkey" under it, and decided to use that name.

So, after that game was made, Jumpman renamed to Mario Mario (his true last name is Segali, which came from Nintendo's landlord, Mario Segali). So then when the SNES/SFAM came out, Donkey Kong returned again in the 3 awesome game series, Donkey Kong Country.

Then later on, DK began to be playable characters in most of Mario games like Mario Party, Mario Kart, and he even appeared in the 3 most capable series, Super Smash Bros. He also had a game on the Nintendo 64, featuring Rareware, partnering with Nintendo to make the tropical plat former since Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64. On the Gamecube. So far, he is the best guys to be in history.

Actually, the original DK did not wear a tie. And your history is quite lacking. Jumpman's ultimate goal was to rescue the princess Pauline from Donkey Kong's evil clutches. Also, Miyamoto had created Donkey Kong from another arcade game entirely, of which the name escapes me at the moment.

Also, "On the Gamecube" isn't a complete sentence

Pauline wasn't a princess.
