Even if you hate the Metal Gear games and want noting to do with the franchise, you still have to have some level of respect for Kojima. He set out to do something with Metal Gear Solid that no one had ever tried before, and it were the crucial steps that he alone took that turned games into an art form in many people's eyes. He knew what he was doing had a high chance of failure when he started this entire series in the original Metal Gear, something other developers then and still today refuse to do. He had a vision, and unlike others he refused to let his series be whored out by anyone. He did exactly what he wanted to do, and let no one tell him otherwise. That is the merit of great artist and developer, and even if MGS4 is the last significant game he will ever work on what he has accomplished with the Metal Gear Solid series will echo throughout the gaming industry as long as games are made as a sound reminder of what gaming can really do when you refuse to stick to conventions.

It'd better not be. I want Lunar Knights 2. *shot*

...I really need to go play Metal Gear. It sounds fantastic, and stuff like this only makes me want it more. ;;

Well I put in IF mostly because I'm positive this won't be his last game, I just like being dramatic.

Not only that, he makes breaking the fourth wall a common event.
From Codec calls to Psycho Mantis, he turned shattering the boundary between the game and gamer into an artform as much as the game itself.

of course. the metal gear series is among the most important video game franchises, and I think, the smallest one that an be defined as such.
